Balta1701
Whoa, you wanna know something interesting? The DNC's nomination acceptance speech day (aka Obama's speech at the DNC this year) is scheduled 45 years to the day after Dr. King gave his "I have a Dream" speech. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 7, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) The writing is on the wall. This is her chance to get out gracefully. There is nothing to gain by prolonging the campaign. I just don't see her doing that. She'll fight, she'll win WV and claim that she is the only one who can win the blue collar vote. The only thing that ends her campaign is when (no longer if) the delegate math gets her. And I tend to agree with Balta, its likely that occurs around 5/20, after Oregon, and after the next couple weeks' worth of supers going to Obama. HuskyCaucasian
CBS News reports that a top Clinton advisor told her flat out that she can not win. WOnder if he has been fired yet?
HuskyCaucasian
WOW! John Zogby: 30 in 48 hours? My understanding is that probably today, but certainly within 48 hours, about 30 super-delegates will endorse Mr Obama. That should give him further momentum. HuskyCaucasian
Apparently Keith Olberman says he has a source he needs to check on, but Clinton is not far from pivoting and bowing out. Not in like 3-5 weeks. Like... soon. Rachel Madow also said there are "dog whistles" in Washington pointing to her leaving the race. Interesting... Balta1701
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 7, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) WOW! John Zogby: 30 in 48 hours? We've heard about these blocks before. They haven't happened, and if it didn't happen today I don't think we'll get that kind of movement soon. I could believe 30 within a week though. FWIW, the NYT includes a detail suggesting some of the opposite thinking. That they're not prepared to end it yet, but there are now limits to the type of rhetoric that people are going to tolerate from the Clintons before shunning them completely...which is the right call IMO. Top Democratic officials said privately that Congressional leaders were content to have the race play out as long as it did not take on a negative tone. Attacks on Mr. Obama by the Clinton campaign or its surrogates could lead to a leadership push for superdelegates to show their hand and bring the race to a close, said aides, who did not want be identified discussing internal strategy. BigSqwert
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:33 AM) Isn't this a bribe? In my book, yes. What a tool. What if every superdelegate requested $20M for their vote. What kind of messed up process would that be? (I know it's already very messed up)
HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:33 AM) Isn't this a bribe? It's not unusual to "support" a superdelegate with some financial backing. But the most I ever saw was FAR less then a million. Let along 20 million!
HuskyCaucasian
We now know why the Clinton Campaign wasnt ready for "post-super tuesday"... Report: Mark Penn Thought Dem Primaries Were Winner-Take-All At a strategy session last year, Penn reportedly said that a Clinton win in California would effectively wrap up the nomination by awarding her all of the state's 370 delegates. NorthSideSox72
I found this quote from that article very intriguing: Clinton picked people for her team primarily for their loyalty to her, instead of their mastery of the game. Does that sound like anyone else we know? I mean, I'm pretty sure that describes BushCo and their choices in various cabinet posts to a tee. jackie hayes
Not sure if these have been posted, but I hadn't seen them yet. The whites are mine!, says Clinton. "I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me." "There's a pattern emerging here," she said. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/elec...interview_N.htm I was kind of hoping that Balta was right when he suggested that Clinton is staying in the race for strategic reasons, but I can't believe that any more. Let me add, I understand that rhetoric like this comes out of a campaign. That's fine, and everyone does it. But it shouldn't come from the candidate herself. She's disappointing me more every day. Steve9347
All I can say is sans makeup and without botox, Hillary looks like death. THat's a lot of botox. I know this means nothing. But I really just despise her. It's just funny how much Botox that must have taken and still take daily. At some points she can look just downright ghastly... The question is... does the Botox stop if she gets elected Pres? (Far-fetched and not going to happen I know, but dayom, she's ridiculous)

When I read that, what I actually see is "Obama isn't a real candidate, and can't win because all his supporters are limp-wristed latte sippers out of touch with reality and lazy blacks who just vote for him because he's black." Yeah, that may sound like an exaggeration and a straw man, but if you extrapolate the rest of what she says...

Why does this matter at all? Is John McCain a wuss because he has makeup put on to make his head look less shiny when he's appearing on TV?
