JorgeFabregas
QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) lets see. Ramirez in CF over Anderson. Uribe is basically cemented at 2b. Maybe that report of Ozzie playing favorites to latin players is true... Are you saying that Ozuna, Richar, and Ramirez aren't latin enough to play 2b for Ozzie, but Uribe is? Cowch
Well it gives some hope for game two. I suppose as long as we're not facing "lefties with good change ups" we can win. How many pitchers have that in the AL?
zenryan
its amazing. it seems like no matter how s***ty we play, the tying run always comes up in Sox games. It'd be nice if the Sox played with a sense of urgency more often.

It is always Uribe or Toby Hall to be blamed. It has become stupid. Cmon....look at Swisher, Cabrera and especially PK performance today. Uribe is not supposed to be hitting...he is doing what he is supposed to do and that's play defense. Now, PK is doing neither!

I agree that Swisher/Cabrera/PK have killed this team over the last 10 days, but the excuses people make for Uribe are comical. It's like when Illinois fans say that Chester Frazier doesn't have to shoot well to be a good player. If you're in the lineup, you need to produce. 2nd base is a very easy defensive position to play. fathom
I'd give Ozzie so much credit if he switched things around and let Quentin lead off tonight. This would be the lineup I'd love to see Quentin Cabrera Thome Konerko Swisher AJP Crede Anderson Ozuna
G&T
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) PK should take the blame for today's game.. he was brutal on both sides of the ball. The last good Sox game was when PK was benched and Dye was hitting 4th. PK has been lazy on both sides of the ball. It has cost runs against the team and cost runs for the team. I think Dye and PK should be switched. At the very least, pitchers won't be able to go around Thome so easily. Obviously Dye is hurt...so... southsideirish71
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) I'd give Ozzie so much credit if he switched things around and let Quentin lead off tonight. This would be the lineup I'd love to see Quentin Cabrera Thome Konerko Swisher AJP Crede Anderson Ozuna If Ozzie moves Swish from the leadoff spot, he will have Kenny bring up Owens and bench Quentin. Its makes no baseball sense, but if Ozzie moves his non-Ozzie type leadoff guy, he is not replacing him with another non-Ozzie type. No matter what lip service he gives to OBP. rafacosta
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) Is that in his contract? When you sign a player you look at his most valuable assets. For Uribe, it is his defense. He sucks as a hitter but we all expected that. But to classify him as the epitome of today's suckiness is too much. Hitting for him is an extra. Now, what makes me sick is to see Pk once again starting the season really f***ing bad and when it comes June/July he hits. Every year is like that. Hope the pithing will hold us once June comes... fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) If this team was serious on competing in the AL, having a player in your every day lineup just for defense isn't going to work. If you're going to accept that Uribe is fine at 2b because he just provides solid D, then you shouldn't be too upset about this loss. Even Dick Allen would agree that Uribe has to pick it up. Again, I repeat why I'm so annoyed with Juan: he's the only position where an upgrade is likely.

No, Uribe has not sucked since day one, but he has gotten steadily worse as time has gone by.
