TitoMB345
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) I wouldn't really call it crappy. He didn't strike out, and he was credited with a single and an RBI. But he didn't really capitalize either. They changed it to a single? MLB GameDay still has it as a FC and no RBI... JorgeFabregas
Craig Biggio - one hbp per 43.8 plate apperances, career Carlos Quentin - one hbp per 22.7 plate apperances, mlb career. Plus he led the minors in hbp for two years in a row. I'm sure his stance (elbow close to the plate, gigantic back turned towards pitcher) has NOTHING to do with it. I'm not saying that ALL his hbps have to do with his stance. Everyone gets hit once in a while. I'm saying the fact that he's going to lead the league in HBPs DOES have to do with his stance. I'm saying the fact that he's going to lead the league in HBPs DOES have to do with his stance. i was only talking about today and yesterday's games, those balls sailed right into him wildly i'll agree that his stance has to do with it partially, as well as his decision to take a HBP to get on base vs diving out of the way

joejoesox
first pitch fly out to swisher, it was a slider that didn't move hardly at all, it was just flat

lostfan
O's announcers: "And that's why they got him. A couple of Gold Gloves at shortstop, nice plays like that." Actually no, that's not why we got him, we already had a SS that could do that, and better to boot. The problem was, that guy couldn't hit over .230 to save his life and was a bad hitter even by SS standards.
RockRaines
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) I'm not saying that ALL his hbps have to do with his stance. Everyone gets hit once in a while. I'm saying the fact that he's going to lead the league in HBPs DOES have to do with his stance. It also has alot to do with the fact that he hugs the plate and hits things well out over the plate and has a ton of power to right field. The book on him is to pitch inside and his hole is low inside. If you continue to hammer the inside like that, you will hit a batter eventually. joejoesox
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) How'd Dotel look? slider wasn't moving much, but he got a flyout (first pitch swinging), and a strike out with primarily fastballs with late movement on them, he looked pretty good
