southsideirish71
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Quentin would be the optimal 2nd hitter right now. Swisher Quentin Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Cabrera Uribe With his ability to take pitches, and make adjustments I would pencil him in for future 3 hole hitter. This is the type of guy that could be a monster in the 3 hole.
SoxFan562004
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) I'd believe it. Masset hits 94 when he's got his stuff, which he did. And Thornton has hit 98 before, albeit rarely. could be the controlled weather too, Sox haven't had many decent days to play yet
WilliamTell
You guys have a point about leaving Quentin in the 6 hole or so. I was thinking more along the lines of getting the .225 average or so of our first 3 hitters up for Konerko and Dye.

The Ginger Kid
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) twinkies gun had masset throwing 94mph out of the stretch, and has thornton throwing 97mph seems a little juiced maybe the fan was on

This is the type of guy that could be a monster in the 3 hole. Agreed, but he would need a nice bat to protect him at the 4th spot. I actually think Swisher at the 2 hole is better suited for him, with Quentin behind him then Thome.

NorthSideSox72
Wow, Thome with a line drive base hit to left - that's a rarity.
WilliamTell
Nice hit. In regards to the question about speed in the outfield compared to other teams, yeah we're relatively slow. But not as bad as the outfield of Lee, Everettt, Ordonez about 4 years ago.
Allsox
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) Quentin would be the optimal 2nd hitter right now. Swisher Quentin Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Cabrera Uribe Not with Carlos' power. I'd go: Swish, OC, Quentin, Thome, Kong, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe. Adds some more OBP and power in the top 1/3 of the order while improving the bottom 1/3.

OC Pipe dream, I know, but I guess possible!! With that 1-2-3 clicking they would drive the pitch count up for the starters quickly

Quentin 4th Spot Swish is how I have it in my mind. *** In a few years The 2 hole is where you want your best contact hitter. A guy who can take a pitch, not strikeout a lot, and hit to the right side. Edited April 30, 2008 by southsideirish71
NorthSideSox72
Dye hits one hard to Young, and again, he catches it. Seems like the Sox are hitting Blackburn well, the hits just aren't falling in yet.
