fathom
Ugh, Thome has no chance against Carlson. Let Anderson bat for him!

Jimbo's Drinker
Thome sucks, im so sick of him against lefties.
fathom
I f***ing hate watching Jim Thome bat! Meanwhile, Ozzie would rather cater to the veterans instead of try to win.
Capn12
Thome with a late inning K, who'da thought?
fathom
QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 4, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) Thome with a late inning K, who'da thought? I can't wait until his contract is finished.
fathom
The good news is that Thome won't bat again in the 9th inning. Isn't it time for him to strain an oblique or something?
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) I can't wait until his contract is finished. Meanwhile your hero Paul Konerko can continue to light things up.
fathom
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 4, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Meanwhile your hero Paul Konerko can continue to light things up. At least he's not completely useless in late game situations. It's really sad when I think a lot of us would rather have Toby Hall up in that situation before than Thome. And BTW, at least Paul Konerko proved he can lead this team to a playoff level.
Capn12
Contreras with a pretty nice game today, but then again, our starting pitching really hasn't been the issue the last week to 10 days, not overall...
fathom
Great performance by Contreras. A bad umpiring call and stupid decision to pitch to Stairs robbed him of a stellar performance.
max power
QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) The good news is that Thome won't bat again in the 9th inning. Isn't it time for him to strain an oblique or something? Even if he was terrible for the entire rest of the year after the 7th, he would still be a better alternative than anyone else we have because of what he does early on in the game. fathom
Just think, if Toronto had kept Frank Thomas, we probably win this game!

It's really sad when I think a lot of us would rather have Toby Hall up in that situation before than Thome. And BTW, at least Paul Konerko proved he can lead this team to a playoff level. I hope you're the only one who would rather have Toby Hall up at the plate against anyone rather than Jim Thome.
fathom
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 4, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) I hope you're the only one who would rather have Toby Hall up at the plate against anyone rather than Jim Thome. Against a tough lefty reliever, Thome's probably the worst hitter in baseball.
WhiteSoxfan1986
I really wish we had Fields on the team for situations like pinch-hitting for Thome against a lefty.
jeffthedude
QUOTE (MAX @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Even if he was terrible for the entire rest of the year after the 7th, he would still be a better alternative than anyone else we have because of what he does early on in the game. Why not just bring up Fields to DH vs LHP and then after 7th inning? He's not really learning anything new in Charlotte. I wonder when was the last time a team was swept in a series where they had complete game starters in 2 of 3 games.
fathom
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 4, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) I really wish we had Fields on the team for situations like pinch-hitting for Thome against a lefty. And I wish we had Owens on the team for situations where Uribe or Ozuna have to bat late in the game leading off an inning.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) Against a tough lefty reliever, Thome's probably the worst hitter in baseball. Except for the worst hitter in baseball, Toby Hall. .. Listen, it's all well and good to complain about Thome versus Lefties. I hate watching that, too. But "I hate watching Thome bat!" and "I can't wait until his contract is done with!" are crazed reactions.

And you should know how much I must hate watching him bat when I give Toby a vote of confidence.
