I really think that's what causes some of the routs like we saw last night. MB probably doesn't get lit up if he didn't feel like he had to be perfect. Maybe I'm wrong, but at some point it has to start wearing on the pitchers.

I agree 100% with this post. Our pitchers have to think that they cannot give up any runs. Period. They try to be too perfect, like you said. I believe that's what happened last night to Buerhle.

i completely missed it coming out of ST, but KW has dissapointed me with the bench. That is going to rear its ugly head even more when the Sox play in NL parks

Having both Ozuna and Ramirez on the bench is killing the bench.

Haha!

Farmio: "I don't know if they respect the arm of Toby Hall yet."

Sure about that?? :lolhitting

I saw Piazza isn't with anyone, but then I just looked it up, and from what I can see he hasn't caught since '06. Would be nice to have him on the bench for Thome when the LOGY is lurking

Quentin doubles with one out. Our two big boppers come up and both K. How many times has Konerko and Thome struck out this year with runners in scoring posiiton? Slumps, bad spells, curses on the bats - all that aside you would think at some point a professional hitter wil make adjustments to start trying to come out of that slump. I know all the lines and the realities and other argumetns, etc, that are made in the defense of a hitter, but I am just saying...

Except when they are in the line up and then they are killing the line up along with a few others :lolhitting

Dye just got a straight fastball on a tee and grounded to SS. That's awesome.

Greg is probably telling the team, that the center cut thigh high fastball with velocity are coming Just ignore the low and away attack, because only a few pitchers have figured it out . And pitchers dont throw junk anymore, its just a temporary condition seeing all these slow pitches.

I can't believe how pathetic this offense is. We f***ing suck!!

It is amazing how many batting practice pitchers we face that we make look like Cy Young and Sandy Koufax all rolled into one

In case you missed it, Slowey threw 4 straight 88 mph fastballs to Crede on the outside corner. First three were taken, and all should have been called strikes. Then, on the 1-2, Crede put a swing on it like he was protecting on a hit-and-run.

I think the Sox vetrans mind set at the plate is so messed up that they're not taking good swings at anything

Yeah, it's not talent, and it's not ability. For 2 years every single pitcher in baseball has thrown nothing but off speed pitches on the outer half and for 2 years nobody in the lineup can hit it and everyone looks baffled by it. Absolutely amazing.

2 years? This has been going on for about 5 years. Do you not remember Rowand being allergic to hitting low and away sliders?
