yeah, frankly i think hamilton is the more likely player to keep this up too

Hamilton is awesome...thankfully the Cubs didn't get him, as I'd hate to not be able to root for him.

Hamilton's past has done significant damage to his body, which is why Cincy wanted to trade him so much. He has hall of fame talent, but will struggle to stay healthy long term (he didn't stay healthy much last year in fact).

That's bulls*** and you know it...the Reds traded him so Dusty could play C. Patterson over Jay Bruce in CF!

There were 4 shortstops available this offseason via trade...Furcal/Tejada/Renteria/OC. I think KW chose wrong...at least we didn't lose a valuable commodity.

No, but the year before Houston offered Willie Tavaras, Taylor Bucholz and Jason Hirsch for Garland.

Buchholz has been an excellent pitcher for the Rockies...carrying a 1.74 era, 15ks, 7bbs in 20 innings this year as a setup guy

Tavares is not Willie Mayes, but he's solid hitting .320 last year and always capable of 30-40 steals

Hirsh still shows some promise as well though he is currently injured.

They are ALL young guys with room to grow and improve. Meanwhile, we get an aging, downside of his career, over-rated shortstop who is playing himself into a type B free agent.

The fact Joe Crede and Mark Buehrle are still on this team proves:

1. The fans can be pretty dumb.

2. Our GM generally is pretty dumb.

3. We like to keep players long past their peak value on the trade market.

4. All of the above.

All based on a few bad starts early into the season after he's had a lot of success and has been a consistent pitcher? Seriously, what the hell crawled into your ass? What exactly gave you reason to believe all of this before this season?

And that thing about "long past their peak" thing made me chuckle a little bit.

Volquez is looking like a guy that can lead the NL in strikeouts. The Texas Rangers currently have the worst starting rotation since baseball started back in the 1860s.

There is no argument. You keep the potential ace.

Huh? I've been saying that stuff about Crede and Mark since late in 2006. I might be one day proven wrong, but I doubt it, and it's not a case of something "crawling up my ass" when I've been saying it for a while now.

Ehren needs to go down, but dont call up Mac. Broadway stays as well as he'll be the first starter called up if injury.

I say Dewon Day gets the first callup, although Adam Russell hasn't looked bad down at Charlotte either.

I know the defense has been horrible tonight, but the next time Buerhle pitches over an error will probably be the first time in a long time. BTW, Wassermann really isn't a major leaguer.

Sometimes I think sending players to AAA might hurt their development. The talent level in the IL is just awful, and maybe it gets players into bad habits that they think will allow them to excel at the major league level.

I don't think I've ever agreed with you more.

I agree with you that Texas should never trade their pitching.
