Chi Town Sox
Interesting read about Ozzie of all people?!?!?! http://www.dailynews.com/ci_9229115?source=rss
JoeBatterz
Good find. Makes you wonder if any of the starting pitchers ever have any dealings with Ozzie or if they deal with Coop 100% of the time.
Pants Rowland
Watching the 2005 World Series video, it was obvious from the Garland clips that he was never a huge Guillen fan. The two did not seem to mesh well from a personality standpoint. With that said, Garland seems to forget that Ozzie's arrival provided him with the opportunity to prove he could pitch deep into ball games and learn how to get out of his own jams. Prior to 2004, Garland would walk the first batter or so in the 5th inning and be peeking into the dugout to see if Manual was coming to pull/rescue him. I am not saying volatile is better than laid back, but it does seem like JG is oversimplifying things a bit.
RockRaines
Garland wouldnt be worth s*** if it wasnt for Ozzie, he may have been stuck in minor league ball. Re-reading the article, it looks like quotes taken out of context to make Ozzie look bad. All the players say they tune out his rants because he does it to take the focus off of them. Garland wasnt saying it in a negative way at all. Edited May 13, 2008 by RockRaines
Brian
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 13, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) Garland wouldnt be worth s*** if it wasnt for Ozzie, he may have been stuck in minor league ball. Yup. When we first hired Ozzie, he let Garland pitch and didn't yank him early like Manuel did. Garland was even quoted in the papers saying that he glad for that.
