How many songs are on your computer/iPod?

All of which I like and will listen to at any time. I personally don't like it when people brag about how many songs they have, but don't know a bunch of them b/c they just download entire soundtracks. Like my roommate who has about 6,000 songs but if you look at his "play count," there are probably about 2,000 that he has never played.

I don't have nearly as many songs as some people have, but I'll put my thoughts on this. Of my 8400+ songs, I have heard practically all of them. Do I remember each and every one off the top of my head? No, but over the years, it's practically impossible for me to have not listened to all of them. I generally listen to an album the whole wway through when I first get it, and if not, I've surely heard it through years of random play. Most of my collection is comprised of full albums (and 1185 of them are Frank Zappa songs ), because I'm a much bigger fan of albums than I am of singles. This one of the reasons why I like the Beatles a lot more than the Rolling Stones, but that's another topic for another thread. Frankly, I only have interest in downloading (or buying) full albums, because if I really like a song, chances are I'll like more stuff by the same artist. And if not, then I don't think it's worth having that one song to begin with.

I collect music. For instance, I have all the Beatles stuff, but I dislike the Beatles.

You used to be cool Bob, but then I read this. At least you have all of their stuff though, it's worth having even if you don't like them.

 

But there are certain things you'll never find on my collection, like... Blink 182 or Good Charlotte. f*** that.

You redeem yourself a little for this.

 

The way I look at it, you can never have too much music, but certainly too little. Plus I don't pay a dime for it (here come the moral police... and the FBI.)

Without a doubt. I wish I had more music, especially a larger jazz collection. As is, I don't know many people who listen to jazz, and I don't have the means to acquire it myself nowadays (bandwidth limits, boooo).

About 10,000 on my iTunes, but usually no more than 1000 on my ipod. I have 2, one I keep loaded with classical music only, and the other I reload to suit my whims. I also have a brand new 8GB Zune I am looking to get rid of. Too much hassle to get it to work with my itunes stuff.

I wish I would've seen this post before I went out and bought one a week ago.

I actually got it for my wife so I don't know. It seems like a pretty simple enough device to use. I was told the Zune was a better device than the ipod right now so I went out and got her one since she'd been screaming for an mp3 player.

 

For myself I'll probably get the big version so I can put my whole music collection on it.

I like music, I just don't have the time for it that I used to have. I have pretty much cut down my listening to my basic favorites. Other than that, I have other things to worry about. To me reading is still more important, and with kids and studying for licensing exams at work, music just doesn't really fit in.
