fathom
QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:38 AM) Seriously. 9, 8, 9, and 11 pitches in innings 3-6, respectively. I said it earlier, and maybe I am beating a dead Thome, I mean horse, but is someone paying these guys to be impatient and see less than 10 pitches in an inning? We were working him in the first two innings. This offense is impotent. Someone get them some Viagra. This happens a lot with this team. The top of the order is pretty patient, and the first two innings, you'll see the starter around 40 pitches. However, we get to the bottom of the order, and then the starting pitcher starts getting more 2 or 3 pitch outs, and it all goes downhill.
kane0730
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 14, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) You heard it here from Hawk Harrelson, folks: IT'S NOT GREG WALKER'S FAULT! I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't put the blame on Walker. I blame KW for brining back the aging "sluggers." Dip the shoulder and rip! fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) When Contreras is in control, he is so fun to watch. For some reason, it seems like the Angels always look hopeless against his forkball.

fathom
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ May 15, 2008 -> 03:43 AM) Seriously. I'm trying to remember the last time I saw his forkball working like this. Maybe at Cincinnati in 2006, a game he got a no decision in, but he was racking up the strike outs.

fathom
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:45 AM) Hawk was spot on. Last year, he wasn't close to having this kind of control with the fork. That sequence to Vlad a few innings ago was sick. Just like Jenks, it all starts with confidence in the heater. Contreras is throwing 92-93 mph this season, which is up from 88-89 mph last year. Thus, he no longer drops down as much as he did last year. If you think about it, throwing a forkball when dropping down is basically impossible. Cochise
I like how each Angel batter in that inning saw as many pitches as the Sox have in an entire inning for the past 4 innings.

aprec32
QUOTE (kane0730 @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't put the blame on Walker. I blame KW for brining back the aging "sluggers." Dip the shoulder and rip! I get that.....but what does it hurt to get rid of Walker and bring someone new in. Can it get worse? It's been highlighted here numerous times about hitters we have brought in and just turn to crap. At this point....something has to happen and Mr. Walker should be first to go! Cochise
Theres a bunch of angry dudes out there with chains and brass knuckles who are ready to give Paulie two bad thumbs now. fathom
Nice hit by Crede...too bad we couldn't at least get Dye into scoring position. A definite pet peeve of fathom is when there's a leadoff hit, and a 2 out hit doesn't score a run.
