scenario
Whisler is really surprising me. He's starting to look like a pitcher.

Ozzie Ball
QUOTE (scenario @ May 17, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) Jose Martinez has been playing VERY well for Kanny. .421 BA in his last 10 games. Over .300 for the season as of tonights game. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?ac...=18&t=64682 Well let's not go that far, he's getting hits but not displaying any power, OPS on the year is at .741. scenario
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 17, 2008 -> 04:11 AM) Well let's not go that far, he's getting hits but not displaying any power, OPS on the year is at .741. In the last 10 games, he has 16 hits in 38 at-bats with 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, and 10 RBIs. He hit safely in 8 of the 10 games. 6 of them were multi-hit games. That's a nice stretch, especially for a 19-year old playing in A-ball. Thought it was worth pointing out, since he is one of the most highly thought of prospects in our system. Plus, remember he is 19 years old, 6'5" and only 170 pounds. He's going to grow into more power as his body fills out. scenario
Whisler pitched a very nice game... 6 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 4 K's, and 2 BBs. Ray King came in and threw a very nice inning of relief (retired the side 1-2-3 with 2K's). But.... then came MacDougal... bringing his implosion act to Charlotte. 1 inning, 2 hits, 2 walks, 3 earned runs, blown save, and a loss. Somewhere along the line this guy's confidence snapped and he is rapidly approaching useless. Sad to watch. scenario
Kyle McCulloch with another very nice outing... 6 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 K, and 1 BB. Then Joe Winkelsas came in and 1-upped MacDougal... 2/3 of an inning, 5 earned runs. Birmingham loses 6-4. David Cook remains hot. 1-2 hitting with a sac fly and a walk. The hit was a homerun. BA is now .302. His OPS is 1.059. Look at his last 10 games: .483 BA (14 for 29); 4 doubles; 1 triple; 5 homeruns; (10 extra base hits out of 14 hits?); walked 10 times; only 4 K's.
