I prefer 2 threads for GENERAL GOP and DEM talk, not election related. If something major comes up, it should warrant its own non-sticky thread that will go away on its own as time moves on.

As for the general election...

One bi-partisan thread on the issues and other general election topics.

One thread for just polling.

Keep the GOP and Dem only threads, and also have a general election thread for bipartisian bickering. I still think it is nice to have somewhere to have a discussion without being stalked perpetually. It keeps things more civil I believe.

I'm in favor of the mild discussion to a degree in the separate threads and carrying off arguments into other threads, but it will be on the posters to do this. Everything I don't want to read or talk about, like the blatantly biased opinion pieces in either thread (unless I see it's biased in favor of my opinion, heh), I ignore it or skip past it.

I think the GOP and DEM only threads have gone about the way I envisioned they would. A nice place to commiserate with like minded posters. Mild disagreements are fine, but a Dem in the GOP thread is about the same as a Cub fan in Pale Hose. They may be welcome, but act nice. Like SS said, it's nice to not get stalked.

For the upcoming general, candidate specific is necessary, and we should try and keep the trolling down. I'd rather see smaller issue dominated threads, then a massive everything thread. I'd also like to have a non partisan discussion on the overall campaign.

The only thing I would say is maybe try to keep the actual GOP and Dem threads for ONLY GOP and Dems. The way a lot of the discussions go in the buster anything that is mentioned without a link or solid facts why you think a certain way itll get torn apart. I think if you want to discuss ideas or share opinions with people of your own party without worrying about criticism.

OK, since it appears that Obama will have this thing truly in hand within the next couple days... I'll be revamping the threads in here a bit at that time. There will be a Probama thread (aka anti-McCain), a ProCain thread (aka anti-Obama), and a general election thread. No specific thread for polls.

Also, for the Dems ONLY and GOP ONLY threads, let's all try to keep from getting into partisan s*** in there, if you can. If a topic is worthy of its own thread, just start one, and feel free to copy in the post from the partisan thread.

If any Clinton news comes up that isn't really about Obama (i.e. Clinton on Obama's cabinet), just put it in Dems ONLY, or the catch-all, or a new thread.

Cool?
