That's kinda short for a PF. He's almost aSF at that point. If THAT's the case, than Rose is the pick.

Well, to be fair, I wouldn't rule out him picking up another inch or two before he's all the way done either. He's only 19.

And I wouldnt want Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, or Dennis Rodman.

Obviously since none of them were taller than 6'9 they could not have played PF in the NBA.

Kind of hard to compare a kid who hasnt played a minute in the NBA to 3 HOF's...

Well people are dismissing him entirely based on his height.

Because if you compare his college stats hes on par with any of those:

Barkley:

If you compare the stats:

Beasley scored more points per game and had more rebounds per game than any season Barkley played.

Beasley scored more points per game and had more rebounds per game than any season Malone played.

Only Rodman had better points per game or rebounds per game in any season.

Then again its impossible to compare any college player to any NBA player as no college player has ever played a minute of NBA basketball.

How can you compare Rose and Paul? How can you compare Rose and Williams?

I guess at the end of the day you use what you have and hope for the best.

People claim Beasley's height will prevent him from being a PF. I have pointed out 3 HALL OF FAME PF's who played at or below Beasley's height.

The point is its not going to be his height that dictates whether or not Beasley is a good player, its going to be his skills.

There really is no reason for concern over Beasley's height. He's got the length, bulk, and athleticism to make up for a few inches in the post. Guys like Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, Udonis Haslem etc are doing ok as shorter PF's.

I don't want any of those guys with the #1 pick though, I want much better than that.

I'd take a 20/10 guy in Brand.

But I agree, I'd much rather have Rose. He's a potential 20/10 guy with 10 being assists, and maybe even 4-6 boards a game.

Big news! (Maybe.)

From rotoworld:

Derrick Rose isn't even scheduled to meet with the Miami Heat prior to the NBA Draft, giving every indication that the Bulls have come to a decision and will select Rose with the No. 1 pick.

Rose concluded his predraft workout with the Bulls on Thursday, with his brother/advisor saying "[Chicago] is our last stop." Rose sounds as if it's a done deal. ''I hope the Bulls pick me,'' he said. ``I thought LeBron James was the luckiest guy in the world playing for his home state. Now I get that chance.'' Look for the Heat to take Michael Beasley with the No. 2 pick. Jun. 19 - 4:03 pm et

So Hinrich's on the block I guess now.

My guess is the Brewers trade Maurice Williams to move up in the draft possibly, and then try to trade for Hinrich.

Any chance the Bulls could get Corey Hart in a deal?

Even if they draft Rose, I could still see the Bulls holding on to Hinrich as a "Tweener" guard who can guard guys bigger than him and play the SG slot alongside rose sometimes. But in that case, they'd have to move Gordon, and maybe Hughes/Thabo also. Whatever, the Bulls needed to trade a SG before they got the #1 pick and they still do.

With his contract? If noone wants him, maybe. But if there's interest, I have to think he's the one to go.

Out of those guys mentioned, I think 1 of Gordon or Hinrich certainly has to go.

If the Magic end up signing Maggette with the MLE, I could see the Clippers go after Gordon if they don't draft Eric Gordon.

Memphis is a big possibility for Gordon also, especially after Navarro decided to go back to Spain.

It's just that Hinrich's stock would be low ATM, but can the Bulls justify paying that much to a tweener combo guard off the bench (because I don't think Larry Hughes would take coming off the bench too well).

And if Del Negro is a defense first guy, Thabo should stick around for sure.

Well no, honestly the Bulls shouldn't be paying that much for a combo guard coming off the bench. But they at least are in a position where they can afford it if their starting 5 is Thabo, Tyrus, Rose, Noah, and Deng...only 1 of those guys is going to be off his rookie contract in the next 2 years and that's Deng. Hinrich and Noc are the 2 guys you'd like to move the most because it's so long before their contracts expire, but the sheer amount of youth makes it possible to hold them.

Frankly, I just want to see the kids play together. I don't care who's on the bench, I want to see that lineup (with maybe a change at SG to Gordon, Hughes, whatever). I think that you can develop that in to as good of a lineup as any team in the league has if they're coached right.

As good as Garnett-Pierce-Allen? Or Kobe-Gasol-Bynum? Or Paul-West-Tyson? I'm not seeing it.

I mean, I think I'm fairly optimistic about the Bulls. I still think huge things are possible for Deng, I think Noah can be a legit center. But you're talking about a starting lineup with still has some serious offensive limitations. I still think that lineup is missing at least one major piece.

Out of curiosity I see no mention anywhere really that indicates Rose is a lock to the Bulls. I think the Bulls are going to give a good hard look at Beasley and I wouldn't be at all shocked if he ends up being the guy.

Everybody up here in Chicago says Rose to the Bulls is a lock, and by everybody I mean people in the know. Plus, Rose said today with the media he has yet to work out for, and doesn't have a workout scheduled with the Heat. That's a glaring hint if I've ever seen one with the draft just a week away.

Why wouldn't he work out for the Heat if he didn't know the Bulls will take him? Even if he's a lock to go there after the Bulls take Beasley, it doesn't seem worth pissing off your new team just to miss a day of workouts.

Yeah, i mean nothing is written in stone until the draft actually happens... but id say Rose is most likely headed to the bulls. What im looking forward to is how Paxson is going to build the team around him. In my opinion we have to make a lot of changes, especially with the clustered backcourt.

The draft is in July.

Yeah, I was just going to edit that. On the day of the lottery, I'm 100% sure they said it was going to be in mid-July, but I just heard on SC it's next Thursday. My bad!
