Yeah it is shipps. But when the #2 pick is basically up for grabs (which really never happens), there's going to be a lot of rumors thrown around.

Whether or not it eventuates, we'll wait and see.

I still think the Miller + Lowry + #5 pick for #2 is better than what the Bulls could offer at this stage, unless they can get creative.

Would have to be Deng and Thomas IMHO at least. Hinrich or Gordon I don't think will be good enough to use with Tyrus.

I hate to be a buzzkill with all this fun trade talk, but isnt basketball notorious for tons of trade talks but no one actually makes the move 95% of the time?

Eh, I don't know. There seems to always be some big trades around the draft.

The odds of getting a player as good as Deng/Hinrich at the 5 pick aren't that great. Miller is a solid player but Deng is better and I'd probably grade Hinrich in a similar mold to Miller. Lowry is incredibly over-rated. Therefor, I'm going to say the Bulls deal is better.

Now if Mike Conley is involved in the deal, than it might get a little more interesting.

Considering what Hinrich produced last season, and what his value around the league would be, and his sizeable contract, I'd rather the #5 pick myself, especially when you could get a Jerryd Bayless there who I consider a better prospect than Hinrich was coming out of college.

Miami needs an outside shooter, and I'm sure palehosefan will probably back this up. But they heavily missed Kapono this last season. You have Wade driving to the paint on numerous occasions, you are going to need some shooters to open up the floor for him. Miller could easily be a 20PPG guy for the Heat. Is he as good as Deng? Probably not, but I'd say he's got a more well rounded offensive game.

Lowry would be an ideal backup PG for the Heat. I like him as a scrapper, reminds me of Earl Watson a little.

I would rather for a rebuilding team to get Miller, Lowry and Bayless than Deng and Hinrich, but that's JMHO.

I'm just wondering how do the Heat fit Deng and Hinrich into their cap? They'd have to dump Marion on someone, and would they then be able to target Elton Brand? Probably why a trade down a spot to get O.J Mayo really makes the most sense for them if they are going after Elton.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot 1 big thing, Memphis will take on Mark Blount's contract. Thinks it's got 2 years left at $8M or something like that. That's another positive for the Heat - Grizz deal.

What if the Heat are able to work it out to where they get a lineup consisting of:

Hinrich

Wade

Deng

Brand

Insert Stiff Here

That is a pretty dynamic 4some and isn't out of the realm of possibility (although it would be hard to pry Brand from the Clips without having a draft pick to give up in addition to Marion). Regardless of that Marion is gone gone gone and Hinrich/Wade/Deng is about as good of a trio of wing-men that you can have.

Also, need I mention the age factor? Hinrich as down of a season as he had is young and still well thought of in the league (I have no problem keeping him in fact I think its stupid how much the bulls have soured on him, but with Rose coming in they have to move Kirk).

Hell, the Bulls could probably have a shot at putting together that exact lineup mentioned above using the #1 pick, Gordon, Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas, and Larry Hughes (possibly Drew Gooden as well).

Chad Ford recently added that he felt it would take the #1 pick to get Dwayne Wade. Mentioned the following:

#1 pick, Tyrus Thomas, and Drew Gooden (plus additional salary filler). I personally would make the deal in a heart-beat and than make a move to acquire Elton Brand (without giving up Noah and hopefully Sefolosha).

Gordon (or Hinrich)/Nocioni/Future picks in a sign and trade for Elton Brand. The plan would be to use Hinrich/Gordon in a spot-shooting roll (they'll also be the primary ball handlers). Long-term you obviously hope to develop Thabo for such role. Thabo would get numerous minutes off the bench at the 1/2 while Hughes (if kept) would get lots of minutes at the 1 through 3 off the bench (bench scoring would be his big job). You know you got scoring in the post in Brand and Noah just does his think defensively and on the glass.

Not a bad looking lineup if you ask me.

I just wonder what the cap situation will be with that. Hinrich makes what $9M a season, Wade would be on about $17M or so, Deng will probably be on $10-12M a season, and Brand would be about $15M, that's a lot of money for 4 players, from around $48-53M or so.

But yeah it could be doable, but the Heat would have to be under the cap enough for them to acquire that extra salary. Which means they'd have to trade Marion first. There were actually rumors in NY of Marbury and the #6 going to New York for Marion to re-unite with D'Antoni. I guess the Knicks would actually have a good wing defender for a change.

But yeah, the Clippers won't do Marion for Brand straight up I wouldn't have thought, not when they already have Maggette and Al Thornton. The Heat may have to throw in a Haslem or some draft picks to make that deal happen.

2 - Grizzlies - Beasley. They do the trade with Miami giving up Miller and Lowry and take Beasley.

3 - Heat - Mayo. They pull of a trade with Minny by giving up a future protected 1st to move up 2 spots to take their guy in Mayo. A lineup of Wade - Mayo - Miller - Marion - C with Lowry off the bench looks pretty good (if they wanted to go smallball).

5 - Wolves - Lopez. McHale takes the safe option and goes for the C after trading down.

If Memphis was in the 2 spot, wouldn't they of had to trade with Miami, which would have given them the #2 and the Heat the #5? Instead, you have The Wolves at #5 and the Heat at #3. I'm taking it this is your idea of a 3 way trade possibility?

i would melt

As would I.

I'm curious as to what it would take. Probably the Bulls next year's #1, TT, Hinrich, and Nocioni.

Our lineup next year would then be:

PG Rose

SG Deng

SF Beasley

PF Noah

C Gooden

With no bench except Thabo. :bang

Riley has a chance to either solidify the Heat's future, or the Heat's present. I'm just hoping he doesn't mix and match.

If you are going to deal Wade, then you have to deal Haslem and Marion as well.

I am still having nausea over Riley's fascination with Mayo. All the questions over Beasley's immaturity in South Beach, and he wants to bring OJ Mayo's posse around? Nice.

As long as the Heat don't draft Mayo at #2, I suppose I will be happy with the outcome.

How about this three way trade :-)?

Heat send: #2, Marion, Blount

Clippers send: Elton Brand, #7 pick

Grizzles send: Lowry, Miller, #5 pick

Heat receive: Brand, #7 pick, Miller

Clippers receive: Marion, Lowry, #5 pick

Grizzlies receive: #2 pick, Blount

Magette has the ability to be a UFA so its not a forgone conclusion that he stays in LA.

Clippers acquired the 4th pick and will be taking bayless, imo. However, getting the 4th pick does give Miami a guarantee that if they move down they'd get a PG to put next to Wade.

Richard Jefferson traded to the Bucks for Yi & Simmons

Wow, nice trade by the Bucks, get rid of Yi who never really fit in with Milwaukee and his agents didn't want him there.

My scenario had Miami and Memphis trading 1st, and then Miami trading with Minny to move back into the #3 spot to get Mayo.

Or it could be a 3 way possibly.

Donald Sterling loves him though.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in Orlando for the MLE though, but he'll probably get more than that.

I've heard they like Westbrook, it'll be him or Bayless they take. They could have stayed at #7 and took Gordon (who Seattle will probably take at #7 now), but they traded up for a PG it seems.

Getting rid of Yi also shows how desperate the Bucks were to get out of Bobby Simmons' contract.

Surpised they got rid of him though. My guess is Golden State tries to acquire Yi however they can.

Will they still take Joe Alexander at #8 with Jefferson there now though?

If Gordon falls down to #8, would be pretty tempting to pick him if they are going to trade Redd.

The Clipper trade is conditional. If Mayo is there, the deal is off. Chad Ford claiming they will probably take Gordon at 4.

Jefferson's really not much else than a scorer though. Never been a good rebounder, and he's average defensively IIRC. Still he's the best player in the deal (might not be the case at the end of next season however).

If that happens, the Knicks get to choose either Westbrook or Bayless. They'd be very happy bout that.

Surprised the Clippers would trade up to get Gordon though. Maybe they hope the Wolves somehow take Lopez at 3 and Mayo falls to #4, I don't know.

I think they could have stayed at #7 and still got Gordon FWIW.

I think a lot of it has to do with Jay-Z trying to make room to get Lebron in 2010. I can't believe I just typed that.

Exactly. The Nets are looking at everything else as just details.

Which is about the same as how the Cavs look at his supporting cast, so he should feel right at home there. :D
