Brian
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) At one point in the game, I could have sworn the Bulls had 11 shots in 11 possessions and made them all. Definitely shooting well. Orlando's defense is brutal this game.
maggsmaggs
Wow such a frustrating team. They look so damn good right now, but you know the next game, they could just look lost. I think the talent level was definitely improved though. Is that Tim Thomas or Reggie Miller? Man, is nailing the trey.

MurcieOne
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) The Bulls are such an up and down team, very odd to watch. Hopefully they stablize a bit with the trades and can play a bit more consistent. Since going on a five game losing streak in mid January... the bulls are 8-4, including wins over Denver, Orlando, New Orleans, and Detroit). It looks like they are trending upward. (bulls lost by a combined 17 in the four defeats) I think we're looking at a playoff team, not that it will mean much.... but, I can't see Milwaukee hanging on for much longer, New Jersey is hard to figure out, and the Knicks are still pretty discombobulated. Chisoxfn
Aside from the loss against the Pacers (lots of new faces) the Bulls have been playing very well since getting healthy (ie, Hinrich and Deng back playing well). Hinrich is a huge upgrade as is a healthy Deng. The Bulls are going to make a run and get a playoff spot and they might even win 2 playoff games. I agree... if they can get the sixth seed (only 2 games back right now) I can see the Bulls taking a game or two from Orlando (without jameer nelson). We won't win a game against Boston or Cleveland though.
GoodAsGould
the depth of this team after these trades is just so awesome now. Hinrich/Salmons/Miller and even Thomas are all starter material and we have them coming off the bench. Than with the emergence of Noah/Thomas like a month ago our frontcourt isnt seemingly pathetic as it used to be.
WilliamTell
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) Yeah it was quite unbelievable. Harris should win the most improved player award this season also. He's carrying what is a pretty bad team to a decent enough record while they wait for the 2010 off-season. Most improved will probably be either Harris or Roger Mason Jr.

I used to be one too. Now I realize that he does NOTHING well anymore. So much for his great defense. His man to man D vs Ford is probably why the Bulls lost that game vs IND the other day. He'll go off for 30 every once in a while, giving everyone hope. Realistically, he's just taking minutes from our 2 best players, Gordon and Rose. Oh, and Tyrus still isn't that good. SoxAce
Well Slav, I helped to change you on Hinrich. I'm still working on you to hop aboard the Tyrus bandwagon. But honestly, there's no excuse for Vinny to not get, at least, the 8th spot in the east now. He has the weapons/versatility to rotate now, and so far.. is 1-1 with the new arrivals. If this team can't make the playoffs, then I can't see him having his job by next season.
Jordan4life_2007
The tone around here has changed dramatically of late. Does everyone still want John Paxson fired yesterday? Or did all it take was a decent 12-game stretch to get everybody giddy?

Or did all it take was a decent 12-game stretch to get everybody giddy? I believe (or this is just me personally) that it's shocking Pax actually pulled the trigger, and improved the team. He's been really hesitant in the past to give up "his boys" to get/gain a guy. I still believe some here still want him gone, some don't/or undecided, but this will stop the ripping on him for a while.
Steve9347
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) The tone around here has changed dramatically of late. Does everyone still want John Paxson fired yesterday? Or did all it take was a decent 12-game stretch to get everybody giddy? I said after the deadline, Paxson is a stronger GM because of how bad things got. No longer will he be dedicated to a core but to winning. Honest, I don't think there is a team out there that is as deep as the Bulls. They could have beaten anyone playing the way they did last night. There's a lot of talent on that team, unfortunately we're one more supserstar from contending. However, it's nice to see Tim Thomas getting some run, considering how Skiles dogged him last time. The only negative I can see from the recent game is the fact that Luol Deng continues to degress, and is probably the 7th or 8th best Bull at this point. Oh, and Tyrus still isn't that good. the thing about hinrich though is that he does nothing poorly either...yeah he had a bad game defensively against Ford, but he still is at least an average defender, and probably a tick better than that....At this point Kirk is what he is...he's a bench player who can defend, distribute and score at a moderate level, which off the bench isn't a bad thing...he'll never play up the level of justifying his contract and he's certainly a guy the bulls could live without, but IMO hes still a good bench player and there are plenty of horrendous contracts in the NBA
DBAHO
If VDN sticks to that 9 man rotation the Bulls used last night, they should make the playoffs. If the Pistons keep Michael Curry, they're not going to make it (called it a week ago, and they're on a 7 game losing streak currently).

No change here, Hinrich still should have been traded and Paxson still should be fired. Me thinking those things doesn't mean I'm not going to root for the Bulls though or change the fact that I hope the trades work out. If that could be proven as true, then I wish the trades would have never happened. This team is still nowhere near winning a championship, and will still have to either trade Hinrich or let Gordon go to have enough room just to make a run at a 2010 guy. Paxson is still a bad GM, even with those trades. Edited February 25, 2009 by whitesoxfan101

GoodAsGould
The only thing Paxson failed to deliver on in the deadline was unloading Hinrich, if he did that and got expiring contracts in return id be behind him 100%. That being said, this Bulls team is definitely playoff quality now, and should be next season as well enough time for Paxson to make his big splash in the 2010 free agent market. If he fails that off-season to land a big player, he has to be gone.
