Abortion discussion thread...

I've been thinking about this topic for a while, and finally decided to make a thread about it. I'll start the ball off with this: while reading this article about Charles Grant and his role in the murder and such, I came up with something interesting...

Grant, who was stabbed in the neck during the fracas, was charged by an Early County grand jury that also charged Laquient Macklin with felony murder and feticide in the shooting death of Korynda Reed, 23. Reed died after being taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, after the fight early Feb. 3.

Feticide is the killing of a fetus inside the women's body. Now I have a question, why is it okay for millions of women to kill fetuses every day with no penalty, but Charles Grant gets charged with feticide? Now, I know this is comparing apples and oranges, but still.

I am pro-life by the way.

Pro-choice means the woman has the ultimate choice and no one, not the state or a murderer, can take that choice away from here. I do not see a conflict between those two concepts.

Who is "Charles Grant"? What is the background we are missing here?

Must be this.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant was one of seven men indicted on a charge of involuntary manslaughter stemming from an incident outside an Atlanta nightclub, according to a report in the New Orleans Times-Picayune on Tuesday.

According to the report, the 29-year-old Grant was stabbed in the neck at a nightclub in Blakely, Georgia on Feb. 3 during an altercation that took the life of 23-year-old Korynda Reed.

Reed, a pregnant bystander, was killed by a stray bullet during the melee. Grant was also charged with a misdemeanor for fighting that night.

Neither the team nor Grant could be reached for comment.

Grant's attorney Edward Tolley told the newspaper that the star defensive end will turn himself in soon and plead not guilty. "I assure you we intend to plead not guilty and put up a pretty vigorous fight," Tolley said.

Some people see a contradiction in that the mother killing the fetus is ok but if someone else causes the fetus' death, they are charged with a crime. For simplicity sake, it seems to help by viewing the crime as taking away the mother's choice, not specifically killing the fetus.
