scenario
Charlotte @ Lehigh Valley http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...chraaa_lhvaaa_1 The Knights won 5-2. Richar played 2B. Getz played short. Fields hit 2 homeruns and drove in 4 runs. Eldred hit his 17th homerun. Birmingham @ Huntsville http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_hunaax_1 Cassel pitching The Barons won 5-4. Winston-Salem @ Kinston http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wswafa_kinafa_1 The Warthogs lost 6-3. Not a stellar game for Poreda. Oops. This wasn't a new game. This was a continuation of an April 4th game that was suspended due to a power outage. Tonights actual game came after. And Winston-Salem won the second one 8-7. Kannapolis @ Delmarva http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kanafx_delafx_1 Kanny lost 3-1. Edited May 24, 2008 by scenario
whitesoxfan101
Charlotte: 5-2 win. Richar 0 for 4 in his debut, and Owens was able to finally nudge that OBP into the very low 300's, way to go Jerry!! Russell down to a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings. The 10 walks are too many, and his 0.83 GO/AO is meh, but he's been solid. Fields went 2 for 3 with 2 homers, 4 RBI, and two walks. Getz 1 for 3 with a walk, Eldred went yard again. Ohka finally won a game, but he's still horrid. Childers still on fire out of the pen. Birmingham: 5-4 win. David Cook went 0 for 2, but drew 3 walks and scored 2 runs (love that guy, call him up to AAA). Mercedes went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Cassel was ok (6 IP, 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, 3 k's). Fernando Hernandez was solid, he's somehow 3-0 despite a 5.84 ERA in limited action so far down there. Save for Lujan. W-S: 8-7 win. Maxwell and Chirino were awful on the mound, Rote (scoreless inning, 0.87 ERA), Brooks (4 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 6 K, win), Texeira (7th save) were not. 2/3 of the lineup had two hits each to spread out the 12 hits. Orlando hit a home run, Allen stayed hot. Kanny: 3-1 loss. Moreno still struggling to come back from the injury (4 IP, 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk, 2 k's). Perez had a perfect 8th and struck out the side. Miranda and Morales both 1 for 3 with a walk. Logan Johnson continues to struggle (0 for 3 with a walk, hitting .118 the last 10 games). BearSox
According to gameday, one fields homerun was the LF and the other was to RF. Hopefully he has finally broken out of this slump, and starts BB'ing more, K'ing less, and hits the s*** out of the ball. Getz was showing his versatility by playing SS. Bourgeois has been a disappointment this season, batting a mere .212.
scenario
The situation that existed when Winston-Salem re-started the suspended game... Kinston had the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the third. How's that for a way to 'start'? Poreda did a nice job to get out of it only giving up one run. So, Poreda actually pitched 4 innings last night not 6. And he gave up 3 runs which is not horrible considering the situation he had to bail himself out of. The other 3 were runs he gave up in 2 innings on April 4th - his first start of the year - that didn't show up on his record until completion of this game. I listened to that game on radio and Poreda is lucky it got suspended. He couldn't find the plate. When the power went out I thought somebody on the Warthogs must have shorted out the system to come to the rescue and save his ***. LOL. I realize most on this site are anxious to annoint him something special but if he continues with all these strikeouts and lack of strike zone judgement, everyone will be sorely disappointed and on his case. Flame away but in my opinion if you can trade him and get a really good return, you do it. But they will keep him due to the uncertainty of Crede, which I completely understand. I just think they should look for a better long term solution at 3B. As for Bourgeois, yes, he has been a disappointment. He started out strong in spring but the last 10 days he was with the big league camp, his play was uneven, both offensively and defensively. This is a guy that people were up in arms about, in terms of not being added to the 40 man. So far, he's showing he's right where he belongs, in the minor leagues. That said, I hope he turns it on because his skillset is needed ... speed, contact hitting, versatility.

Reinsdorf said yesterday that Crede absolutely won't talk about an extension during the season. Thus, we'll have to get in a bidding war for him this offseason. Hard to see the Sox winning that with Boras calling the shots.
