South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 24, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) Thome and Ryan Howard must both be done. Ryan Howard has already whiffed 72 times. I don't know what the deal is with the young Ryan Howard, but it certainly doesn't change the fact that Thome has been awful in clutch situations so far this year and hasn't really been very good in the clutch for a while now. stretchstretch
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 24, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) we get swept tomorrow and we're still in first place, that's how bad this division is right now. sad. Dear American League Central, You are weak and embarrassing, yet despite that fact, this team refuses to win and take what could be ours with relatively minimal effort. A regression in the development of our youngsters, and blown opportunities with amazing pitching our anemic veterans simply don't deserve on their side, we look forward again to handing the trophy over to the star-free roster of young Twins players who will find a way to grind out just enough wins to take the division in the final week of the season. Sincerely, Chicago White Sox

greg775
Fathom and others who went to that atrocious game.... Was it as obvious in the stadium as watching on TV that after the second inning it was guaranteed we were not going to score a run?? That was a sad, sad hitting effort again. We win eight in a row ... we better not lose tomorrow and be barrelling toward a significant losing streak after playing well. What a dysfunctional offense! Great pitching AGAIN by the Sox. Worst game I've ever been to. I didn't think we would hit today anyways since our career vs Weaver is miserable but still had some hope we could squeeze out a couple runs and it would be enough. Had Swisher not have gotten caught trying to go to second we might have scored at least a run that inning. At least the weather was nice for a change, made this game bearable. Honestly, yeah.. it was pretty obvious, at least to me, really, as soon as we didn't get Ocab in in the first. I kept hoping Danks would fend them off for a while and someone would muscle a homer over.. but it didn't happen Pitching looked good though, even in the bullpen (I was sitting directly on top of it) and Linebrink can flick a sunflower seed from the pen to CQ, which is ultimately impressive.
