I'm laying here with a nasty chest cold and desperate for anything on TV. I'm watching Deadliest Catch and realized I have spent hours in my life watching crab pots come up over the rail. Look, there's another one! Look there's a tired crew member! It's the same show over and over again. And I'm watching. :o I know Sig on the Northwestern is so hot, but would it hurt to have some female crew members?

That is a guilty pleasure show. It's real life action. AMazing what those guys do and they get paid big bucks as well.

Show looks sweet in HD.

I agree, and I've watched so many episodes, hell I know the Apelio season is after the King Crab season. But how many crab pots have we watched come over the rail? How many tosses of the hook?

But Texas is up 8-1 on KSU for the Big 12 Title, (I love the P i n g of college baseball), and there just isn't much else to watch.

Augie has the Longhorns playing well the past couple weeks. I'll forgive them the aluminium bats because when two top tier college baseball teams play, you see some great fundamental baseball. The College World Series has quickly moved way up my list of favorite sporting events. I do not have the time to really follow the regular season, but this time of year, I jump on the bandwagon.

I dont know why you guys are saying its a guilty pleasure, its a tough guy show with a look into a way of life most of us know nothing about. The Hills on the other hand is a guilty pleasure.

Good point. It's not like I am ashamed to watch it. They air it so often that it seems like nothing is on, I put on Discovery and poof, Deadliest Catch.

It is probably porn for a dentist, thinking about all those bad teeth. Seriously, is there another show on television more in need of a good orthodontist and hygenist?

dirty jobs?

I absolutely love Deadliest Catch. It's funny that you bring this up b/c I was just having this discussion with my buddy about how you can sit and watch Deadliest Catch for hours without getting tired of it. As for it being the "same show over and over again," well, I think that pretty much applies to all reality shows, so this one is no different. But, yeah, I never would have guessed I would have loved a show about crab fishing so much. I don't even fish.

I have this nasty chest cold and coughing my lungs out. I was walking back and forth and kind of half watching an episode. How sad is that I look up, see a deck shot of a crab pot and think, that's the Time Bandit?

What makes it a great show is the possibility of disaster. Every wave, every runaway pot, everyline tossed...you never know if someone will go overboard, get popped in the noggin or caught in the line. Plus, as someone said, it, like Dirty Jobs, is a part of society most people know nothing about.

And as for orthodontists and hygenists...how about My Big Redneck Wedding?

I guess as the greenhorn, we'd all be biting the head off a herring for good luck . . .

bite off a head of herring... make 30 grand. yep, i'd do it.

The guy on the Wizard seems the most understanding of being a greenhorn. I wonder if they show the full crews. There has to be a relief Captain, cook, etc. I think for simplicity, they cut back on who is shown.
