Hawk keeps calling that Alexei hit a semi-butcher boy. Whats the difference between that and a true butcher boy

Alexei pulled the bat all the way back and swung. A true butcher boy is when you keep the bat in the bunting position and hit the ball with a half-swing (I think).

I'm curious about my fellow posters opinions:

How did you all feel about tonight's plate umpire and his strike zone?

How did you feel about the strikes called on the check swings?

The entire umpiring crew was horrid. Perez threw 3 breaking balls to Quentin, all were at least 8 inches off the plate, and all 3 were called strikes. The ump behind the plate was terribly inconsistent. A few of the check swings were questionable from the CF view, but they were often right when looking at the foul line view. Seems whenever we play Cleveland we get a terrible umpiring crew.
