Texsox
Really this comes down to two views of why businesses mark holidays. Some, like Alpha, believe it is a kind of selfless tribute to the holiday. Cynics like me think it is to attract more business, like a Memorial Day Sale.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) I'm pretty sure we had a Memorial Day Thread though In fact, in the early days of SoxNet/Soxtalk, we actually closed our site in honor of 9/11 and had links to Red Cross sites. No one can ever not call Soxtalk unpatriotic That said, I think nothing of the sort with google not putting something up. Soxtalk has always had the human factor involved in its operations. We have always encouraged people doing things like charity work to share their attempts, and usually we help out with them. When there is disaster in the world, we have tried to do our little contributions to help. Even when individuals have problems, we all pitch in to offer advice, or any other aide that we can, unlike lots of other people and sites. As a site, we have a very good group of people. Especially when you look around even some closely related sites, and realize that many could care less about the people who are involved in their very existance. The humanitarianism of Soxtalk probably the thing that I am most proud this place for.
