kapkomet
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) I understand the frustration with politics as they are right now, and with each of these candidates. But I don't get how this election is so hard for you. To me, and most people I've spoken with about it, this choice is a lot better than the ones we got the last few elections. I guess time will tell. It will be interesting to see the real contrasts begin to come out.
Rex Kickass
Kinda cool. RexKickass -- Help shape the Democratic Party's Platform for ChangeEvery four years, the Democratic Party assembles a platform that outlines the party's position on a number of issues. Traditionally, the drafting of the platform is not open to ordinary people. This year, that's going to change. For two weeks in July, people all across America will hold Platform Meetings in their own communities to discuss the issues and share their input. The outcome of these meetings will be reviewed by the Drafting Committee as it creates the final Platform. No political experience is required. Your thoughts and experiences are all that matter, and they will shape a platform that -- like this campaign -- is owned by the people. Sign up to host or attend a Platform Meeting in your neighborhood: http://my.barackobama.com/listening This year, ordinary people like you will gather in their homes, community centers, places of worship, and even coffee shops to discuss the issues that matter to them and help decide what should be at the heart of the Democratic platform for change. The input we get from these meetings will help shape the platform at the Democratic Convention in August. Platform Meetings are a great way to connect with fellow supporters and help write the next chapter in the history of the Democratic Party. We'll make sure you have all the resources and support you need to succeed. All you need to provide are your ideas for America and your hunger for change. To get started in your community, just log onto My.BarackObama.com and go to our Platform Meetings page. (If you don't have a My.BarackObama.com account, creating one is simple and easy.) Sign up to host or attend a Platform Meeting now: http://my.barackobama.com/listening I hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to make your voice heard in the political process. Thank you for all that you do, Barack I love that Barack and I are on first name terms.

HuskyCaucasian
McCain: "no ablo espanol".... i mean "No hablo hechos" McCain's new radio ad, in Spanish, aims to show Florida would benefit from the Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which he supports. But every number in the ad is wrong, except one, a prediction of job gains taken from a group favoring the trade deal. And even that number is rounded upward so generously as to flunk third-grade arithmetic.
Rex Kickass
We're closing this thread because we think its starting to hurt discussion in the forum. If you have a specific issue in this election you'd like to discuss, start a thread based on its own issue. If you just wanna talk about how great your candidate is? Use the Democrat/Republican threads. Thanks!
southsider2k5
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) Out of people who probably want the gig, though, I think Biden is the best person for the job. You're right about it not delivering a state, but I'm really thinking about VP performance after the election and not performance as a running mate. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 08:56 AM) That's my best guess. FTW

DABearSoX
So walking around at lunch I saw someone wearing a shirt that read "Not Ready" and had a picture of Barack. I really don't understand how that can even be a an issue when he have had someone who can't even speak correctly in the white house for the last 8 years. At the same time, RSO is ... not exactly what this country needs right now, in my not so humble opinion. Neither's McCain, but there's not a better alternative at this point. Actually, compared to all the bizarre and bogus reasons I've seen some folks in this country decide not to vote for Barack Obama (race, supposed religious ties, perceived lack of a plan, or not standing for the national anthem), his inexperience I find to be a very valid concern. Not necessarily a deal breaker by any means, but definitely something to take seriously.

Not necessarily a deal breaker by any means, but definitely something to take seriously. I understand that it is a valid concern. But the reason why our fore fathers created a system with checks and balances is the reason this is not much of a concern for me. I mean really, who has ever had "experience" being the leader of the free world...no one (other than the formers)....if experience really meant that much JFK, Billy Boy, etc would have never been in the oval office, and Joe Biden would have been there long ago. The best part about it is the spin the GOP is trying to put on it, that McCain has more experience b/c he spent time in a prison camp...its a riot
DABearSoX
well, Jimmy Carter was just on MSNBC and he said that Obama is more qualified for the job than himself, billy boy, reagan, and a few others...meaning before they were elected
