RockRaines
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) Not only that, but it will be at least 2-3 years before Beckham does anything of note at the MLB level. This isn't the NBA or NFL. He will prob be up the end of next season with a shot in 2010.

RockRaines
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Depends on how our middle infielders go before then. If he dominates high A this season and rakes in AA the beginning of next year, theres no reason he wont be up. As much as we hope Alexei and Richar will be studs, Beckham should be better than both. Cubano
Alexei has shown he can hit to all fields. He should hit in the number 2 spot though leadoff would not be bad either considering this team does not have a true leadoff guy.
kwolf68
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) If he dominates high A this season and rakes in AA the beginning of next year, theres no reason he wont be up. As much as we hope Alexei and Richar will be studs, Beckham should be better than both. Beckham projects as a very nice, solid MLB player who should have a solid career, but he is not the 2nd coming of A-Rod, not in this life time or any other. I LIKE the pick a lot, but lets let the kid face minor league pitching before annointing him anyone's replacement who is currently on the MLB roster. I LIKE the pick a lot, but lets let the kid face minor league pitching before annointing him anyone's replacement who is currently on the MLB roster. Luckily we have zero middle infielders as good of a player as A-rod. So he only has to be better than another Alexei, and probably Richar, which is most definitely doable. kwolf68
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Does that mean he will continue to be good in the future? Well there is that time-space contium to deal with. Jose cound potentially -as an 80 year old- see himself pitching at 47 and we'd have a paradox. /end cheesy back to future reference, not to mention reference to 80s metal band (Paradox) that no one has ever heard of. fathom
Anyone just see Dukes hit a bomb for a walk off against the Cards? He was pissed at the umpire, and he did some gesture to the umpire once he hit it.
