daa84
nice game so far for the 4 worth watching in charlotte..all have reached at least twice .... fields 2-3 with a walk, a HR 3 RBI owens 1-3 with a walk Richar 2-4 with a double and rbi getz 2-3 with an double and rbi getz up to .314...definitely developing well...i assume next year uribe will be gone, cabrera gone and alexei at SS with getz getting a long look at 2b to start the year, and beckham pushing for time by the end of the year Edited June 8, 2008 by daa84
scenario
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) i assume next year uribe will be gone, cabrera gone and alexei at SS with getz getting a long look at 2b to start the year, and beckham pushing for time by the end of the year I don't think we'll see Beckham til 2010 at the absolute earliest... and 2011 is a much better bet. Think about it... if he signs early enough to have much of a season this year, he might (might) finish up the year in Winston-Salem. Then next year (2009), he'll play in Birmingham. And if all goes well, he'll play the next year (2010) in Charlotte. So, a fast-track process puts him in Chicago spring 2011. 2-1/2 years for a position prospect is about as fast as it gets. Palehosefan
I think we will see him out of spring training in 2010. He's going to be 22 years old this September and hit an elite conferences pitching very well. I would think he would start out in high A and stay to end the season. Next year he might start in high A and make his way through AA hopefully. I would compare the SEC talent to somewhere between low and high A ball, and he tore the league up. Anyways, just my opinion. JPN366
You guys really should see David Cook hit a homerun. It is something to behold. I've seen homeruns, but his are absolutely majestic. Majestic lasers.
scenario
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) Look at a guy like Tulo though. I'm not comparing Beckham to Tulo right now, as I have seen about 6 AB's by Gordon in his career, but he was the 7th overall pick in 2005. Got just under 100 AB's at high A, then in 2006 got a full season at AA, with a cup of coffee with the big club. 2007 he was up and starting for the Rocks. Once again, I'm not saying that will be the path Becks takes, with Tulo being a really special player, but it's been done in the past, and the situation is comparable. That would be beautiful if it works out that way. But I can't think of too many examples where it has happened that fast. Tulo... Ryan Zimmerman... Ryan Braun... If Beckham comes on that fast, that will be very exciting to watch.

GoodAsGould
In terms of Richar and Getz I wouldnt be apposed to both of them making the big league team and the best man winning. I know both are capable of playing 2B/SS dont know if one of them are able to play 3B but if Pablo can do it anyone can?
scenario
Richar was moved to 2B in the DBacks organization because he was a butcher at SS. He's been pretty good at second. Getz can play multiple positions well. If the plan was to bring up a guy they could move around, like Ozuna, it would be Getz.
Chisoxfn
Could they play 3B in a bind, sure. Would you want them starting there, absolutely not.
GoodAsGould
Well the way I see it is our left side of the infield is gone next year. So unless we trade him that gives the 3B gig to Fields and have Alexi slide over to SS. That leaves a spot open at 2B for Richar/Getz and whoever loses can be utility guy. Just want to point out that AAA is not really necessary for most top prospects. AA has most teams' best prospects, while AAA is more of a holding ground for those guys (i.e. Josh Fields). So, 2010 is not out of the question at all. Actually, if he develops how we hope, you very may well see us do what the Reds did with Jay Bruce and let him play a month and a half or so in AAA and then call him up. That way, he's already in full-season mode and doesn't have to get warmed up facing Major League pitchers in April/May.

Not to mention Charlotte has been a place where White Sox prospects tend to "die". For whatever reason, if your a top prospect and spend any significant time in Charlotte, you really start to fall off the radar. I don't know what it is either, but I may be basing that on some horrid Knights teams of 2-5 seasons ago (Borchard).
