$199 8GB iPhone 3G with GPS

Did you catch if that's subsidized by AT&T or if that's the off the shelf price?

$299 for the 16GB version which will also be available in white. I wish they were offering a larger size, but this will do. They'll be available July 11. Can't wait! :headbang

Nothing official, but I can almost guarantee that it is subsidized and requires a 1 or 2 year contract.

I'd buy one, but i LOVE verizon wireless. I wont be leaving that anytime soon. I am hoping the Verzion purchases of the "open" spectrum that was up for sale means well see an iPhone on the verzion network when verizon rolls out services.

Snow Leopard 10.6 all intel, all Cocoa sounds good to me. Should be fast.

is all intel official? I thought it was only a rumor.

10.5 was Leopard, and 10.6 is SNOW Leopard. Snow.. as in white... clean... hmmm... cold be an interesting way of saying we are "clean intel"

Man Apple sucks.

First they get you to spend 600 bucks on a new iphone, and then drop the price 100 bucks within 2 months. Then within roughly a year of being released, they cut the price in half and give you all the features you want, including 3g which should have been included in the first generation iphones. I'd be so f'n pissed if I were someone like my mom who just purchased a brand new 16gb iphone for 500 bucks about 2 weeks ago. Luckily ATT has the 30 day trial period and she can take it back.

Unless it's a Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa present, you should always wait until MacWorld and/or WWDC before buying a Mac product. Not that your mom would know that....

I used to think this way about Apple, too. As a person who's been using computers since the era of Commodore 64's, up through the Amiga 500/1200 years, and finally the IBM Clones (Win 95/ME/XP/NT4/2000/Vista), I can honestly say that MACs are NOT bad nor do they suck...at all.

My first Apple product was the original iPhone, and as things stand, I wouldn't want to use another phone/interface...maybe when everyone else in what was a stagnant industry before Apple came around, even comes close to catching up to Apple's iPhone, maybe then I'll consider alternatives. And this is from a veteran of the Windows Mobile 4/5/6 devices/BB's. Not anymore.

Now I'm buying an iMac and dualbooting Windows Vista and OSX...best of both worlds...

Oh, and before you start screaming about how much of a premium I pay for the name...my friend works at the Cupertino Apple HQ and gets me everything for 25% off. :D

yeah DAMN them for moving way faster than their imitators/competitors. HOW DARE THEY

What? Faster? This second generation iphone just now comes to the level of what competitors have had on the market for over a year. That's why just about every article about the iphone 3g says things like "this is the phone we expected a year ago."

I'll give Apple the fact that they make some slick pieces, and they think outside of the box sometimes and give the market something new. But they absolutely suck at keepin their customers happy. This is twice now they've told their most devoted fans, the ones who spent lots of money at launch, "hey screw you, we know we screwed up and gave you an inferior phone for a boat load of money, so to reward you we're going to slash the price in half and give you the phone you wanted. So have fun with that old p.o.s. you got that's now completely and utterly inferior in just about everyway. Hmm, maybe you can buy this one too?."

And as for Apple in general, especially the Macs, I'm a fan of the look and feel. It's just that you can't run 80% of the software out there (especially games).

You can dual boot Windows XP/Vista, so yes, you can run everything if you so choose.

Also, Apple has the highest rated customer service in the industry, so keeping their customers happy isn't and issue for them. Speak to Dell about that one...talk about pissing off customers, just try getting tech support from one of those Indians. :(

Yeah, they were real quick to get that slim notebook out. Where's the UMPC? How about a 12 inch laptop I can carry around?

Apple ain't that far ahead... if at all.

And they're just now going to Intel? Their designs may look great, but they're hired designers from Sony Vaio. They may have made a slick product or two, but the iPod and iPhone aren't enough for me to hail Apple as God. I still can't go to a local retailer and buy their software. That's being ahead of the "imitators"? Give me a break.

btw language probably NSFW

:lolhitting

I saw someone with a big apple sticker on their car the other day. I got me wondering about how many Dell PC or Sony TV owners feel the need to advertise what electronics they buy.

Maddox is the best and I must say that's one of his better articles. So many awesome one liners in there.

Hmm, well how difficult is it to do that? I've been looking at the 21 inch thing they have at best buy for like 1500. The pic and video features look great, but I was worried I would never be able to game on it. But even if you can I dunno that it's worth it. How many graphics cards are made for a Mac? Any?

It's a snap. I'm happy enough just using the Bootcamp beta, but you have to reboot the computter to switch operating systems. With something like Parallels, you don't even need a restart, you just switch between systems like switching between open apps.

If the unit you are looking at is an iMac, you don't have any display card options and iMacs are very limited in upgradability. But it's equipped with a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB so it shoudl be able to keep up.

Yeah, where can I find a powerbook G4 today? Ebay?

You want to know who is ahead? Asus. Check out their EEE. Check out what has followed behind it from other companies. Apple is years away from that. ...But I can buy a phone and touch it and watch it respond!

Outdated doesn't mean ahead.
