Are you kidding me?? He has ZERO coaching experience. NONE at all. Not even as an assistant coach. Not even junior high or YMCA or a park league...ZERO!

pax is terrible. I miss jerry krause...

UGH I just threw up in my mouth a little. Love him or hate him, Pax cannot have credit taken away from him for cleaning up the catastrophic mess that was left by Krause after he turned a once-historically good franchise into the laughingstock of the NBA.

Kirk will look very bad, he cant shoot. The Bulls need to package him and get rid of his poor shooting ass. He has been the most over hyped Bull in history, bigger than Brad Sellers.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hinrich blows personally. But he's a SG that's been playing out of position as a PG, and as a result he looked terrible running the offense, dribbling around aimlessly for 17 seconds before heaving up a shot and hitting the lower left side of the backboard. So I'm inclined to think that playing the 1 and always being assigned to players like Wade had an effect on his shooting. It's kind of wishful thinking, but if he became even an "ok" shooter, drafting Rose would give us a pretty good backcourt.

Paxon's head has been spinning for over a year now.I could just feel him doubting his own decisions everytime.

Paxson's head has been spinning because he's looking behind him as Reinsdorf screws everything up. JR demanded the Bulls sign Ben Wallace, he blocked the trade for Gasol by refusing to go over the cap, he got too involved in the coach hiring... Paxson is probably going to resign due to JR's over-involvement.

As much as JR trusts KW to make his own decision and run the team, is about as far as JR does not trust Pax to do the job himself. It's annnoying, and you can't blame ANY of this on John Paxson.

So Pax promises a "name that will resonate with the fans" and we end up with some guy that has never coached anything at any level. Pax is such an awful GM, he'll probably trade the draft pick for Carmelo or something now. Ugh.

Maybe he meant a name that is fun to say?

I was hoping for Fat Lever....

I caught this fairly interesting piece on the "Combo Guard" a couple weeks back and I think it fits here (does show Hinrich on their scale). Basically, the thesis of the author is that most guards these days other than Nash and Kidd fall pretty squarely in the "Combo Guard" category, where they're either taking a good number of shots on their own or are pass first people. Read it, hard to explain in toto.

On Hinrich...I think he's one of those guys who'd be an excellent fit for a certain kind of roster, but just like Gordon, I'm not sure it's the roster we've had the last couple years. He does a couple things very well, in particular playing defense. You can put him on guards bigger than him and still get a solid performance. He's not the best passer, he's not the best ball handler, he's not the best shooter, he's not the best at creating offense for other people, but on all of those, he's not "terrible". But what he does need is he needs to play alongside someone who can do the job of being the key guy on the offense other than him. If you put him on a team where he's the 2nd option, or the 3rd option, where he can take the ball up the court but the defense is still focused on another guy, that's a position he can succeed in. Alongside a guy like Wade, or Kobe, or in Lebron's backcourt or perhaps on a team like the Nuggets, I think he'd thrive. But just like with Gordon, his problem is that he's been on a team where there's been no one who has the ability to create scoring opportunities for the rest of the team, and thus, his advantages get muted and his weaknesses get played up.

I know that the consensus is that Rose will be similar (but maybe better) than Deron Williams or Chris Paul. However, I see his number one skill as exlpoding to the basket and finishing. With that said, I think his game could end up most like AI's. I realize that their body types are very different, but I see Rose getting to the hoop (and to the line) a lot.

Call it a gut feeling but I think we will be pleasantly surprised with how he handles the job.

I think so too. If you had asked me in Feb. what I wanted the next coach of the Bulls to be saying during his press conference, it would have been almost word for word what I'm reading Del Negro said. Take advantage of having guys like Noah, Tyrus, Luol who are young, athletic and mobile, start with defense first but push the tempo on offense, etc.
