BearSox
wow, Eldred with a homer in each game tonight, including a grandslam. He is a beastly AAAA player. Charlotte is looking like a scary team in the international league now. Charlotte won game one, and is winning game 2. Whisler did his thing in game 1. Poreda with a rough AA debut, going 6 innings, giving 6 hits, 4 ER (4 R), but no BB's and K'd 5. Birmingham lost.
danman31
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) wow, Eldred with a homer in each game tonight, including a grandslam. He retired the first 12 he faced. Considering he didn't walk anyone or give up any HRs I'd say that's good for a debut.
bighurt4life
I don't think that Poreda's 1st AA start was all that bad, WHIP of 1.00 and 5k's. It wasn't great but there's a huge jump in talent from High-A to AA, should take him a while to adjust to that.
scenario
Poreda was perfect through 4 innings. He gave up a run on 2 hits in the 5th. The only inning he struggled was the 6th. So... not a bad start. Didn't look great because of 1 bad inning at the end of his 6-inning outing. But before that it was very impressive. scenario
Kannapolis won 12-8. Jason Rice had a great outing as a starter: 6 innings; 0 runs; 1 hit; 7 K's, and 0 walks. Offensively, Kanny had 18 hits lead by catcher Matt Inouye who went 5-5 raising his BA to .338. He was a force for Great Falls last year. Nice to see him start coming around.
