southsideirish71
QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) We cant possibly have advance scouts-unless they just scout the food in other parks We didnt need advance scouts. We have faced DeLaRosa and Grilli before. Jorge played for the Royals. Grilli for the Tigers.
whitesoxbrian
Was there, and it was one of the most boring, most pathetic performances the offense has put out in a game I've been all. Where's the puke emoticon? Tribe lose, Twins win. Edited June 15, 2008 by whitesoxbrian
lostfan
On another note, I thought that ball Anderson jacked to the warning track in the 8th or whenever it was was gone.

It must have been horrible. Did anybody boo? I thought boos were in order after OC's double play ball and some of our horrible at bats in the ninth. We will win or lose with our 12 million dollar men. You find places to get him into the lineup against LHP. Tonight, you could have easily had him DH and give Quentin a day off. He was one of the top hitters in baseball last season against LHP, and now that we're struggling against LHP, you need to get him into the lineup. Why exactly is Ozuna on the roster? We just faced 3 straight lefties, and he didn't sniff the starting lineup. We have Uribe to be a backup at all three of the infield positions. No reason to have Ozuna and Uribe on the roster, that's for sure. Fields could DH against lefties for Thome, and play third once in awhile to give Crede a day off. Fathom, it has been reported that we tried to get lofton, I still think we are trying. that "type" of player is what is needed. Fields won't change a damn thing. Ozuna is on the roster until that "type" of move is made. In addition OZZIE the nutball like him. a better question is why do we have Uribe on the roster. Heis over paid, and over weight. he is the guy that needs to go. MY opinion.

Bringing back Uribe was a no-brainer, as much as it sucks the way it's unfolded after that.
greg775
It might be wise to bring up Fields and sit Thome against most all lefties. Rest Crede once a week. It might be wise to start playing Anderson more for Swish. If Fields was a jack of all trades he could also rest Paulie. We could play him a lot, but I don't think Fields is capable of hopping around from 3B to 1B to LF. Let's face it, we go as far as our veteran hitters and veteran starting pitchers take us. The big money guys will win us or lose us a pennant. Tonight they pretty much all were s***, including AJP cause of his inability to throw the ball. BearSox
Ozuna may not be the same player he was pre-injury, but he's still decent with the bat, better than Uribe for sure, and with Crede, Cabrera, and Ramirez, there isn't much need for a "defensive star to replace them." Plus, Ozuna still provides more speed off the bench than fatty Uribe does, and I don't care what anyone says, he provides a spark still. Seriously, to look that bad against a pitcher with an 8 era and Jason Grilli showed no one was ready to play last night except Danks, and Anderson (who hit 2 balls hard & had a s/b) . Seriously, to look that bad against a pitcher with an 8 era and Jason Grilli showed no one was ready to play last night except Danks, and Anderson (who hit 2 balls hard & had a s/b) . I agree on your points last night, the assumption you are making is the sox not getting a different shortstop from another team, which they did by the way, but even if they didn't get OC, they could have plucked somebody better than Gonzalas. I guess my point is, it is KW's job to figure this all out. personally I think they cannot wait until Thome, Konerko and Dye leave this team. The money freed up will be immense, in the meantime you build your minors back up, so you can have a few kids ready to go when the team turns over. GreatScott82
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) I realize we need to add another bat, but where? We have unmovable contracts at 1B and DH, Swish, Cabrera, Crede, Ramirez, and Pierzynski aren't going anywhere. I also think Dye doesn't go anywhere? What to do? With pretty much every position filled up, the only thing i can think of is trade one of our position players OR release Thome (which wont happen). But if KW did trade or release Thome, that can open up an OF slot as Swish can platoon with Dye and Konerko for the RF, 1B and DH possitions on a daily basis. Than KW can go ahead and bring in Tavarez But like i said Thome wont be released. The team is what it is and will likely finish the season with what they have, which sucks because IMO they need that true lead off hitter. elrockinMT
I watched the game on WGN and I have to say it was one of the most patchetic dispalys I have seen from the Sox offense. They fell for the old inside and down pitch on two strikes everytime and were swinging for the fences and almost coming out of their shoes a lot. Frankensteiner
I think last night was just one of those games, right? And given what happened against a s*** Rockies pitcher, maybe the debacle in Detroit wasn't all due to the great Tigers pitching like some people here tried to argue? But people will jump down your throat when you dare suggest the Sox are "back to normal." Because, god knows, a team getting hot for a couple games is a much better indicator of their hitting ability than the previous 2 months of the season.
