Controlled Chaos
QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Tiger reportedly out for the season... BREAKING NEWS Report: Tiger Woods is done for the season, according to The Golf Channel. The website reports he has a small stress fracture in his left knee and also needs ACL repair and wants to return at full strength in 2009. What an embellisher!! Tiger Opts for Another Knee Surgery - 06/18/2008 By GOLF CHANNEL Newsroom According to sources, Tiger Woods has made a decision to go ahead with yet another knee surgery. He experienced a small stress fracture in his left leg about two weeks before the U.S. Open, which was causing him the pain, and ultimately the doctors feel that he needs ACL surgery and rest to get him back to 100%. Sources added that Tiger is in great spirits and wants to ensure that he comes back even better and more healthy than before. iamshack
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:53 AM) Geeze, crazy he could win playing that injured. Definately adds to his growing legend. I was a huge Tiger hater but even I've came to appreciate and cheer for him. It will be interesting to see how he recovers and just how serious these injuries are. Also, in terms of a golf season, what exactly does that mean (is that like a full year or what, I honestly have on idea other than they've only played 2 of the majors). Sounds as though he wants to sit out the rest of 08' so he can be back and ready to play the 09' Masters to me.
Controlled Chaos
Tiger Woods to miss rest of season with torn ligament By DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer 27 minutes ago AP - Jun 18, 11:40 am EDT Tiger Woods will miss the rest of the season because of surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee, an injury he has been dealing with the last 10 months despite winning nine of 12 tournaments. Woods also said he suffered a double stress fracture of his left tibia while preparing to return to the PGA Tour last month, which forced him to miss the Memorial and was the source of his pain at Torrey Pines when he won the U.S. Open. He had arthroscopic surgery April 15 to clean out cartilage in his left knee, bypassing ACL surgery with hopes it could get him through the 2008 season. But going 91 holes for his 14th career major made it impossible to play any longer. “Now, it is clear that the right thing to do is to listen to my doctors, follow through with this surgery and focus my attention on rehabilitating my knee,” Woods said. Woods was last seen in public late Monday afternoon walking with a pronounced limp across Torrey Pines toward the parking lot, the U.S. Open trophy in his arms. Upcoming surgery makes his 14th major title even more staggering— despite the stress fractures, he managed to win a U.S. Open that required 91 holes over five days. Woods played only seven times worldwide this year and won five of them. He will miss a major championship for the first time in his career and will not be available for the Ryder Cup in September. RockRaines
QUOTE (The Bones @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) If someone can answer this question I will concede the point. What professional golfer acts out more than Tiger? Be it positive with the multiple fist pumps and spiking of hats onto the ground or negative with the banging of clubs and swearing at himself? He is the Carlos Zambrano/Joba Chamberlain of golf. No other professional golfer even comes near to acting the way he does. What professional golfer has the camera on him as much as Tiger? Which one is in the hunt in the final round more than Tiger? Which golfer has basically carried the sport for the last several years more than Tiger? Golf needed him and his emotion as a shot in the arm. Golf's popularity with younger generations and minorities skyrocketed because of him. Stoic, boring old men were killing the sport. greasywheels121
Haha, as others have said, so much for embellishing. Hell of a season, Tiger. He's already got 2008 player of the year on lock, and he's shutting it down with half of the season left.

There would be few people on here that could walk up to the first tee with an injury like that, let alone go out and win a major tournament including a playoff. Its amazing. GoodAsGould
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:29 AM) There would be few people on here that could walk up to the first tee with an injury like that, let alone go out and win a major tournament including a playoff. Its amazing. Given that he was able to put the amount of stress on his injury to play what 90 holes or whatever with the playoffs.... everyone should be able to walk up to the first tee with the same injury. Its amazing. Vicodin is an amazing thing. Just sayin'. Still, though, it is pretty crazy to think what he just accomplished.
