Brian
Love these Cub fans I know who I don't talk baseball with and never ever have rubbed a Cubs loss in their face, and they start texting me out of nowhere, furthering my feelings that I hate Cub fans more than the team itself. whitesoxbrian
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) I love Guillen diminishing Edmonds' HRs in the post game show. Basically said he just had a good day, nothing more; and he rather pitch to him as a .218 hitter than Soriano any day. If he hits a HR, good for him. It was funny because the reporters probably expected Guillen to give a flavorless answer about the Edmonds acquisition being so good for them, and he didn't have any of it. I was just about to post this.
RockRaines
Just like playing the Rays in Tampa, its f***ing hard to beat the cubs at wrigley. They just play the park so well.
whitesoxbrian
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) when that wind is blowing out...we absolutely have to bust their guys inside...lee, ramirez and edmonds all have classic hriniak approaches at the plate ....thankfully i think vazquez has the capability of getting inside on em...i also wish ozzie knew when to take a starting pitcher out and when to leave him in I agree. While most of the time the pitch that keeps Javy out of trouble is the change-up, tomorrow it might just be the cutter onto the hand's of the righties. If he can't throw that and the wind is blowing out, it'll be another 10-8 game.

Dick Allen
Today was probably the least enjoyable time I have ever had at a ballpark. The Fat Boys in front of me were high fiving each other and jumping up and down on strike calls and White Sox foul balls. The Sox had the quieted for a little while, but after the 9 spot, it was brutal. I just think texting someone in between innings and then jumping up and down saying "9 runs" to yourself probably means you have a problem. WhiteSoxfan1986
Guillen deserves a ton of blame for this loss. No way in hell Jose should have been out there to give up nine runs. As Flash mentioned, we've seen this with Guillen before. IMO it's his biggest weakness as a manager.

greg775
Bad loss but predictable after Game One of the series. Wish we would have played Game One like the seventh game of the world series. I mean the fourth game of the WS. Now we're really behind the 8 ball. If Thome plays first tomorrow you know the baseball gods are going to have him commit 3-4 errors and he'll be the reason we lose. I am not a defeatist and love the Sox but am a realist. We ain't going to win tomorrow night, folks. We're going 0-3 and have to hope for the revenge later at The Cell. It's called momentum. And no way can we regain it for tomorrow night. I predict our bats will be quiet on ESPN and we go quietly. --I fear the Tigers way more than the Twins. The Tigers are the team that is going to win our division if we don't.

I mean the fourth game of the WS. Please, don't ever compare playing the Cubs to playing in the World Series ever again...unless the Cubs are playing the Sox in the World Series. greg775
Why couldn't we play the first game of a crucial series like game four of the WS? Uh as a fan I'd have preferred that, because if we didn't stop playing baseball in the middle innings yesterday we'd have blown that game open, won the f***ing game, kept the Cubs in their Devil Rays' funk and might have won today also. Instead we're going to get swept. You are saying we couldn't have played that huge game with WS intensity??

greg775
I think it's a crucial series when it's Sox vs. Cubs and 2/3 of the city are mocking us right now. I truly believe we could and should have won game one; do you?

I truly believe we could and should have won game one; do you? I was on an airplane so I didn't get a chance to watch. Seems like our bullpen blew the game. It's nowhere near as crushing as losing a game in the World Series. It was simply a bad comparison.
BobDylan
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) Because it's NOT a World Series, and I have a hard time calling it a crucial series when we're playing a team in a different league. I think, for the mentality of the ballclub and the way other teams around the league see the Sox, it is a crucial series. This was a great chance to make a statement around the league. Instead, they fell right on their ass and continue to surrender a 6.5 first place lead. They're now 8-12 against plus .500 teams. I thought it would have been great to roll through Detroit, Colorado and Pittsburgh before this series to lessen the blow if they f***ed up, but they didn't. Now they look kind of silly, honestly. They certainly don't look like a playoff team. If not for an exceptionally weak AL Central this season, they wouldn't be in first place. greg775
I was just talking about WS type intensity. Maybe in my mind I overplay the importance of momentum but I think Game One of a three game set at Wrigley requires a balls out attitude. We got off to the good start and had a special type outing going on the mound and our bats couldn't knock in a key run, providing Oz the opportunity to perhaps blow it by removing Danks. I'm saying if we played Game One like a Series game, OK make it a playoff game, we'd have pulled away and won. The Rays beat a different Cub team than we played today because we blew game one. Now get ready for another long day Sunday. Maybe we'll gain revenge at the Cell. Hope so. Have a nice Sat night. I am outta here for now. Glad I wasn't on a plane this weekend causse travel sucks now. Boycott AA folks. They charge for luggage now. Just say NO. Felix
Well, this season is over. Clearly. Isn't a loss against the Cubs worth 100 losses? We've got 200+ now, there's no way we can come back. Edited June 21, 2008 by Felix

Swingandalongonetoleft
Eh, I'm of the opinion that while underneath all the makeup it's just another series against another (non-division) team, lots of times underneath the makeup of the girl you went home with is a girl you wouldn't bring home had she no makeup. So far we lost courtesy of a walk-off, and a back alley raping. Humiliation and two less wins we'll have at the end of the year. 90% of my friends just got the green-light to make me miserable until next Friday (and probably after that too, because they're simply the better teams this year). It would be really nice to win these games is all I'm saying, and not just to keep pace with the Twinks and Tigers. On the side about the game, almost as bad as the 4 homer inning was letting that clown escape with only one run in the top of the 8th. Do some damage and all of a sudden what took place in the 9th has a whole new significance. Maybe AJ wouldn't have given that AB away... As demoralizing as a 9 run inning was, taking it all back and possibly winning would have stopped a lot of the text messages that were coming to my phone, and would also have stopped my ears from hearing that god forsaken Jimmy Buffett wannabee song.
