whitesoxfan101
Going into this series we were set up to do very well, and today only makes it better. Now, make sure you AT LEAST get 2 out of 3, but a sweep is possible. Just have to play our game the next two days. Good to see Carlos Quentin is officially out of his slump. He's not hitting for as much power, but he's been piling up the hits lately and was great today. And damn, Dye and OC are just on fire. RockRaines
QUOTE (KyKyGruber @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Was Hawk drunk today? When swisher hit the grand slam he says now the lead is 9-0 and then he says Steve Swisher with the grandslam. I was waiting for swisher to do the worm after Dye made that sliding catch. Actually he said that is nine, because that was the 9th grand slam hit in the crosstown series. And he said Steve Swisher because he was playing on his father's name and his father playing for the cubs, which was kind of dumb. But the nine thing made perfect sense. knightni
Hawk is in the early stages of Harry Caray-ism.
Swingandalongonetoleft
IIRC the Cubs haven't lost 4 in a row all year, and have only lost 3 in a row once. A sweep would be HUGE. Two days in a row they've given up double digit runs, on tuesday they gave up 7 runs to the O's and lost. 3/4 wins for us since we last met, 3/4 losses for them. If that clowning that took place last weekend is what it takes to set things straight in this city baseball-wise, then it's a price I'd happily pay. *Edit* Further, they got swept in Tampa before they wiped the floor with us. 4-6 in their last 10. If only we could have taken one or two last week... Wrigleyville would be in full blown panic mode. Cubs postgame on am720 is almost as entertaining as the actual game. whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Hawk is in the early stages of Harry Caray-ism. He was in the early stages of it 5 years ago. He's in the middle stages now. Come 2013, he's going to be mis pronouncing all kinds of names. elrockinMT
I thoroughly enjoyed the game today. How about the catch by Dye and his dramatic theatrics!!! Go Sox

And he said Steve Swisher because he was playing on his father's name and his father playing for the cubs, which was kind of dumb. But the nine thing made perfect sense. I don't know if it was a play on his fathers name or what, but not only the couple times during the game did he say it, after the game he showed the higlight and said something like the big damage coming from Steve Swisher with the grand slam. Not funny, but who gives a flying f***. Great f***in win Steve Contreras and awesome f***in defense Steve Dye. Good hustle Steve Cabrera and nice 4 hit game Steve Quentin. Oh Steve Wise grab your parachute your about to land.

GoodAsGould
Was at the game, upper deck in 510 section it was pretty awesome. For most of the time the cub and sox fans had fun with each other towards the end it got a little rowdy though. Security started taking a chunk of people out towards the end, almost all Cubs fans even though both sides were on the wrong.

Lets be honest people, what do you have to gain getting belligerent and physical with another fan just cause he likes the other team? I dont understand it at all. Everything is more fun when you dont take it to that level. There are families around you, act like adults and good fans.

daa84
this is from baseball prospectus "NL Rumors and Rumblings: There is growing sentiment among baseball people that the Cubs might be relaying the catcher’s signs from the hand-operated scoreboard at Wrigley Field to the hitters. The Cubs are averaging 6.5 runs a game at home and 4.4 on the road."

Agreed on this, I am embarassed the rare times I see dumb Sox fans at The Cell. Just leave the people alone that like the other team, and if they do something bad, tell an usher. As for the Cubs home/road splits, it's just been a weird year. Almost everybody is good at home and bad on the road for some reason, I don't buy they are cheating. They are just built perfect for Wrigley, as are we for The Cell.
