Wanne
Some interesting nuggets... The Sox improved to 18-12 in games against left-handed starters. That's a Shocker! Danks has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 17 starts. OC is tied for 4th for active walk-off GW hits with 12. chimpy2121
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 01:51 AM) Any link to Lexi's homer off anywhere?? Thanx. If you go to MLB.com and click on the Sox story window (its a picture of the guys celebrating) they have a link to it there. I don't know why it isn't on ChiSox.com. bmags
this is the greatest winner thread I've seen in a while... for those in the game thread... I had to leave, but the greatest bar special of all time was existent, we are talking about the following: Pint of Sierra Shot of Jameson FORRRRRRR 3.50 Unreal, just like the Wsox winner. I missed it, but my brother texted me....awesome awesome awesome.
joejoesox
i felt pretty bad for Matt tonight, that homerun he gave to Blake was 97 tailing in on the corner and blake just put a good swing on it, matt was pitching great IMO he was painting the corners with every batter he faced, that K to peralta was breathtaking, 97 on the outside corner, made peralta look silly
joejoedairy
Just to add to the good stuff... signed upchurch and jordan danks sounded like he was ready to sign as well. also the sox just started a stretch where they face the AL wins leader, the AL strikeouts leader and the AL era leader in a row. Somebody call the Elias Sports Bureau.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) Two guys that weren't even on the 25 man roster the first several weeks help us win tonight. Congrats to Russell on the first major league win, Wise and OC manufacture the run after Alexei creates one by himself. Danks. It is hard not to start to believe watching a win like that. I think we have to get rid of Uribe when PK comes back too. I know only having Ozuna as a backup IF is a risk, but Russell and Wise have shown they can help you in spots as reserves, something I'm not sure Uribe can do. Great win!! Uribe has 3 hits, including 2 doubles, in 5 pinch hit appearances this season. He's perfectly fine off the bench.

lostfan
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) Good thing Wise hit for BA. Thats all I have to say about that. Despite Wise's anomalously high batting average the odds of either of them getting that hit (or not getting it) are about the same, also keep in mind this is Joe Borowski we're talking about. Borowski is right-handed, and also effing horrible. Edited July 2, 2008 by lostfan
LVSoxFan
This win had 2005 written all over it. I'm really starting to like this team. I really like Ramirez at 2B. I LOVE Swisher at 1st. In fact, for the first time in many months, I'm not seeing any holes that I would fill.
Swingandalongonetoleft
/\Awesome sig/\ A month ago we would've been happy with the HR/tie and probably would have had 3-4 more innings of uneventful baseball thusly wasting the bullpen before losing in heartbreaking fashion (probably via leadoff walk or an error). That was a month ago, and this is now. In '05 someone always stepped up to be the hero. Earlier in the week it was Quentin, Swish etc. ,yesterday Alexei. Kinda give a whole new breath of life to Hawks pick to click.

WCSox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) Good thing Wise hit for BA. Thats all I have to say about that. If Wise keeps performing well at the plate and on the bases, one has to wonder if either BA or Ozuna is going to get sent down. While it may be odd to have five outfielders on the roster (although Swish could be considered a 1B), I don't see the point in keeping Ozuna around if Wise has significant offensive value and BA has significant defensive value. Another option would be to go with the standard 11 pitchers until the rosters expand in September. F'n awesome win last night. (And an important one, as Sabathia's on the mound tonight.) Last year's team would've folded after Blake homered in the 10th. This team may not have the magic of '05, but there's something special going on. LVSoxFan
Hell send Ozuna down, no question. I wouldn't send BA right now, if only for his glove.

I coulda sworn the papers have been talking about either uribe or ozuna going when konereko comes back because guillen likes wise a lot. I cant blame hed be a great pinch runner as he showed after a great hit off of a pitcher that i could have hit off when i was 12. ( it was a good hit i just think jobo's career is a joke.) nitetrain8601
They'll keep BA around because of his defense and also, he's a pretty good pinch runner himself.
