I missed all the pre-game stuff today. I saw that Uribe is started at short this evening.

Safe to assume he's being showcased?

Either that or it's been an awful long time since Cabrera had a day off, and if Uribe is on the shopping block, then we may as well rest the OC for a day or two while we still have a solid defensive SS behind him.

I think they have moved Alexie to short late in the gam a few times. you'd think he'd be given time. But they left him at 2B and have Uribe at SS.

They are trying to showcase Uribe, and the position of need is SS. Once Uribe is gone, Alexei is your backup SS.

I can't imagine any team giving up anything for Uribe unless they are totally clueless.

I'm not sure you fully understand how desperate the Dodgers are for anything resembling a major league shortstop. Hu has been terrible and they've resorted to Angel Berroa and Luis Maza, so yes, Juan Uribe would be an upgrade in LA. They tried to trade Loaiza for him already, so there's atleast a bit of interest from them.

well, the fact that the Dodgers only offered Loaiza for Uribe should be an indication of how much they thought of Uribe.

Or how much they thought we thought of Loaiza. I think yours is closer, but do not estimate the chances of finding a GM who is over valuing someone in your system.

I think the backup SS will be (gasp) Pablo Ozuna. Alexei is the 2B guy now.
