The Camo Jerseys Tonight

I talked to two vets about this, and both had interesting responses.

My roommate was over in the Middle East a few years back, and he saw the festivities as being a bit overblown, even borderline propoganda. I think he's kind of tired of stuff like this.

My uncle, who fought in Vietnam, did not like the promotion at all. While he realizes that their intentions were good, he has come to associate camouflage with some very bad things. He doesn't think that camouflage should be used fashionably.

I can see both of their points, and I wonder how many servicemen feel the same way.

Is there a sense of irony in the celebration of July 4th, Independence Day, while the military is engaged in an occupation as the culmination of an invasion?

Independence Day is in recognition of a colonial land establishing self rule via the last resort, a revolution against the Colonial system. Maybe the camo uniforms have nothing to do with this circumstance, but it would seem to be a legitimate question. Is the 4th distorted for politics?

Can we limit the politics to the 'Buster please?

Wow, so does every other high school kid wearing camo cargo shorts stir up this kind of reaction from you guys too?

Anyways, I want more info on the hats that were worn with the camo jerseys...

iirc, they were just the regular red, white, and blue hats they have worn all weekend.

Have no idea what that means.

Sorry. We have a political forum called the filibuster, therefore the 'buster is sort of a nickname for it. Plenty of political chatter going on in that forum. Feel free to jump into the fray over there.

The hats were brown, with a dark brown logo. I didn't see any at the park, but they have them at Grandstand.

Ok, thanks.

Any other locations or websites where the hats are sold or just clear pictures of them would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, but I don't care to do that. Just wondering why this thread was allowed to go 5 pages deep and my anti political question got "flagged"? Maybe I am on the wrong side of the ledger.

I don't care which side of the ledger you are on. We try to keep the politics to a minimum in this forum, and have a forum specifically designated for politics. It's that simple.
