witesoxfan
QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) A sandwich pick at the end of the round doesn't replace Matt LaPorta, who was the seventh overall pick. They gave up six years of a player who is going to hit the majors in a year or two for a half a year of an ace pitcher. If they had any chance of resigning CC it'd be a much better deal, but as is I'd much rather get the six years of a player than the half year of a pitcher and unless the pitcher is the one thing that hands them a World Series, I don't like the deal (especially for a small market team that needs to value young players in their first six years of major league service time more than larger markets). The Brewers didn't have room for LaPorta on the roster within the next year though, and it's doubtful they had room in 2 years. He's a 1Bman playing the outfield, and they already have that in Braun. Fielder's not going anywhere, and Corey Hart is pretty damn solid all around; dealing LaPorta is not a bad move at all and, given Milwaukee's history of drafting, the two first round picks they'll get in return along with the other two first rounders they'll almost undoubtedly receive for Sheets should basically guarantee that they'll get a prospect equal in talent to LaPorta. It's a very good move by them.
Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) Even worse it is showing on defense. He's still making the spectacular plays. It's the routine stuff that is hurting us. I don't think that's because of injury.

He let a ball go between his legs because he didnt get his ass down low on account of his back. And Iam sure it has effected his throwing greatly you can tell his motion doesnt even look the same. Dick Allen
Considering Crede's back has hurt for the last 5 or 6 years, I really doubt it has anything to do with the accumulation of errors this season.

And considering he hasnt had a season of errors for the last 5 or 6 years shows there must be something different going on with his back for him to be doing it now. It's a very good move by them. I agree that they had no room for LaPorta. However, I think they could have gotten more than a half year of an ace for him. I think Cleveland did a very good job here and got prime talent for a pitcher that they were losing anyway, and I think that Milwaukee overpaid because they smell the postseason. Ultimately, the Brewers will likely make the playoffs but they'll regret giving up LaPorta for a half year of CC.
