they said konerko will be starting tonight on the radio

i agree with the sentiment of others here...i appreciate what pablo did..always played hard, did a few little things well....but he was the most logical subtraction...guys with no power, no on base ability and poor defenders just arent that valuable

Thats more than can be said for uribe. Uribe has some power, good defense and thats it. Pablo can play sound fundamental ball, brings speed to the table, and can hit for average consistently. Pablo is a better player than Uribe.

When you are talking about middle infielders on the bench, defense is a huge key. Possibly #1 on your list. And Uribe is far, far better than Pablo in that department.

worse meaning a career .290 avg w/ the sox?

...with like a .300 OBP and .310 SLG%. His SB% wasn't even that good.

He's a 1 dimenionsal hacker with terrible defense. Thanks or few good memories, but you were overpaid and can be replaced by Owens

Gotta love Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Ozuna

Ozuna was sent down for assignment on July 8th 2008 due to GM Kenny Williams' hope in Juan Uribe's .206 average to remain constant as it has for the past 2 years. The Sox sent Ozuna down for assignment justifying, Uribe was able to play all three infield positions (presumably unlike Ozuna), even though Ozuna played more games at 3B and 2B than Uribe has had in the past 3 years.

Never was down about lack of playing time and when given time with the Sox, batted .290. His heart and love for his teammates will never be forgotten

I am sick and tired of everyone saying o and uribe would be a great backup at 3b if we need him. He hasnt played there since 2004 where he played third for the first time in his career. Screw having him at third, someone find the insurance firm or used car dealship the Milkman is running and ask him if he wants to wear black again.

Juan Uribe, even after having not played 3B since 2004, will be better than Pablo Ozuna. All he has to adjust to are screamers that are flying at him, but there are few others in the game today who have better instincts with a glove than Juan Uribe. He'll be absolutely fine and then he'll be gone at the end of the season, so hopefully nobody's aorta blows up in between now and then.

Amen to that. And if one of our starters at 2b or SS goes down, I'd MUCH rather have Uribe than Pablo. This move was a no brainer in my opinion. Uribe is the more valuable of the two to this team at this time.
