Question, how many who are currently promoting the "government will decide when to pull the plug on grandma" lie were among those in Congress who thought it was appropriate for the government to intervene in an end-of-life decision in 2005 (Terri Schiavo)? And, in fact, to override what her husband (and apparently Schiavo herself) wanted?

Is it worse to be an unapologetic liar or a hypocrite? f*** it, let's just be both.

Well that the whole thing is a lie is a given. A Republican from GA (forgot his name) said he doesn't know how that even got started because the actual bill says it gives the individuals a choice and has nothing to do with the government. How it's been distorted and allowed to perpetuate like that is mind-numbing to me.

I remember we were having a debate a while back about whether Dick Cheney is an evangelical. Here's what Barton Gellman, Cheney expert, has to say on the subject.

St Petersburg, Fla.: What role did religion play in Cheney's policies. I don't recall him appealing to religion as did Bush. Is Cheney even a religious guy?

Barton Gellman: He resolutely avoids any talk of faith, even with friends. One of his oldest friends and colleagues, David Gribbin, is a lay preacher and speaks often of God, but never could discover a hint of Cheney's views. Cheney certainly doesn't use religion or the social issues in politics. Just not interested.

It really shouldn't be.

Touche, because I totally know how it's happening. "Mind-numbing" isn't the best choice of words. "Profoundly disillusioned" maybe is better.

I'm pretty sure that was Rumsfeld we were talking about.

It's both of them. They both have that weird "are they big in to gun toting Jesus or not" question about them. Rumsfeld it appears more Yes, Cheney it just appears hates the world.

And you could have predicted this months ago. Didn't necessarily know it would be "DEATH PANELS!" but taking a random portion of the bill totally out of context and lying about it is a standard tactic. Just look at the way the stimulus bill was attacked. "Who would ever care about research on pig emissions?"

Woman takes a poster of Rosa Parks into a town hall meeting and displays it.

After she puts it away, a journalist asks her to show the poster. A protestor than comes and snatches it out of the lady's hand.

The lady chases and goes after the protestor for snatching out of her hands and ripping up a picture of Rosa Parks.

That's some extremely selective editing.

The policy was no signs and the women were supposedly parading around with their posters earlier in the town hall. Eventually they were stopped and sat down. When one woman looked like she was taking hers out again, this grumpy old dude snatched it from her. Yes, he was douchey, but so were they.

To edit out the beginning (their disruption) and the aftermath (the speaker's explanation of the sign problem) is cheap.

What does Rosa Parks have to do with health care anyway?

About a dozen people were carrying weapons outside of President Obama's event in Phoenix today.

They reported on GMA this morning that no one was arrested, which is strange. They also reported that Obama gets as many threats as both Bush and Clinton did at this stage of their Presidency.

The Anti-Beck advertisement backlash continues:

8 More Major Retailers Among Leading Advertisers To Pull Ads From Beck Show

Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, and GMAC are among eight major advertisers that have confirmed pulling their advertising from Fox News' "Glenn Beck" program in light of his comments that President Obama is a racist.

The advertisers did not pull their spots from Fox News, but rather requested that their ads do not air during Beck's 5PM program.

The advertisers in the latest round of pull-out from Beck's show and their statements to ColorOfChange.org:

  • Allergan (maker of Restasis)
  • Ally Bank (a unit of GMAC Financial Services)
  • Best Buy
  • Broadview Security
  • CVS
  • Re-Bath
  • Travelocity
  • Wal-Mart
These companies join a growing list of advertisers to pull their ads from Beck's show, including ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men's Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance.

It's completely legal in Arizona.

Asserting 2A rights is fine by me, but how about a little coherence? What the f*** are you actually protesting? Pick one, damn.

Like the various liberal/ dem protests during the Bush admin., its a disjointed group with many little factions all with their own views on what's really important.

Man With Assault Rifle Outside Obama Event: 'We Will Forcefully Resist'

In a YouTube video, the man who carried a semi-automatic assault rifle outside yesterday's presidential event tells fellow demonstrators "We will forcefully resist people imposing their will on us through the strength of the majority with a vote."

The man, only identified as "Chris," spoke against taxation: "Just because you sic the government on people doesn't make it morally OK to steal money from people. Taxation is theft."

He also said "it would be insane" not to be armed, saying he wears a gun at all times.

The video comes from a libertarian group called Freedom's Phoenix and another group called 4409, which opposes police security cameras.
