The Democrat Thread

This is great:

Glenn Beck goes on a rant using "hidden words" about Obama and how they all have a deep meaning, then cant figure out how to spell Oligarchy properly...

OLIGARHY is not a word!

The first 60 seconds: Hilarious delusion.

The last 30 seconds: Scariest s*** I've ever seen from TV.

I know I've been saying this for a very long time now, but the opposition to the president seems to get more radical every day.

And the "radicalism" for the last 8 years leading up to this president was different how? It's all about what perspective people want to have.

Okay if you guys haven't seen the absolute classic film "Network" you have to go and get it and watch it now. You will not believe how relevant it is to today and the Beck effect.

"A TV network cynically exploits a deranged ex-TV anchor's ravings and revelations about the media for their own profit."

There were threats of leaving to Canada/ Europe, but not threats of armed revolution.

Aye aye aye. Ok. I mean, there weren't MOVIES made about killing GWB, or anything like that. No unruly protests whatsoever. And the whole "stolen election" crap and that "people need to take back this country" language using arms in 2000. No, none of that. Everthing's just so peaceful, until "right wing kooks" say stuff. I see.

We're just "clinging to our guns and religion" out here. I get it. Peace, love, and no war. :)

Leftists are generally disorganized, pacifists and unarmed. What movies were made about killing GWB?

The WTO protests in Seattle were far more unruly than any of the Iraq protests.

I didn't say there weren't strong feelings, just not calls for armed revolution. There's plenty of stupidity (GWB will suspend elections in 2008!) to go around.

Ya know, I honestly think that there is less volume of anger and frustration now than there was during W's Presidency. Reality is simply that more people were upset with the direction of the country then, than there are now, as shown in the polls.

That said, I do think that the vocal minority on the right is more hate-filled anger-ridden than their lefty alter ego.

That could very well be the case, and its important not to paint all conservative criticisms of Obama with the rabid right-winger brush.

Sure, as goes for both sides. I just think there is a difference between the methods of the far wings of each party. The lefty whackos love their conspiracy theories and they fear everything they can't see. The righty wackos love their slippery slopes and fear everything their imaginations come up with. But the lefty course of action is protest and platitudes, and the righty course is fearmongering and threats of violence. Neither are particularly logical, but the latter is a little worse for the country.

I'm just waiting for a "muslim-looking" guy with an AK-47 to show up to one of these protests and President appearances. I wonder how that will affect the image of the right-wing crazies who are all for guns rights at these events.

Ummm, the 2000 election was stolen. Just like the 1960 election was stolen.

You see what you want to see.

Not to get into a big debate here, but the shenanigans that went down with military balloting in Florida more than account for the 537 vote difference. It's part of the reason there was a rush to the Supreme Court to stop the recount.

Vote fixing is something that happens on both sides, unfortunately. If it wasn't for Daley getting out the Chicago zombie vote and ensuring all the Lake Michigan precincts turned out in 1960, and some creative balloting on LBJ's behalf in Texas - Nixon would have been President in 1960, not 1968.
