Latest phony idiocy - criticizing Obama for going to Dover and being photographed while saluting the bodies (nevermind that the press is always there). What, is he supposed to do it in secret or some s***? Of all things to make a controversy over, this? For real?

Well it is obvious that he hates our troops and America and is doing it just to look good.

So, apperently...

Respecting the Bodies of Fallen Soldiers w/ Cameras

Via TPM-

CBS's Mark Knoller reported yesterday, Obama was the first president to visit arriving dead at Dover during the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq -- meaning that when it came to taking trips to Dover like Obama did yesterday morning, Bush never used to "do it" at all.

Anything the president does that would be considered "good", "decent", etc will now be categorized by the other party as being done for political reasons.

Saves me time when a REP is elected.

Bulls***. Bush did do it but always made sure the cameras were not there because he didn't want it as a photo op. TPM can STFU and so can you on this subject. Obama went, they took pictures, I may not like it but he did what he did (I'm not going to cry about it, like some others, though), and that's how he wanted it handled, so that's it. End of story.

Actually, if you read the quote, it says a CBS reported said Bush had never gone to Dover... ever.

There is one way to see the photo op, in my opinion. There are a lot of people who think that the people in power don't care about the human consequences that come of our military engaging in hostile actions. That photo and that act does a lot to silence people who think he doesn't care about the human toll put into place. He does, just like I'm sure every one of our previous modern presidents did. And I don't think the photo was taken to say anything other than the President respects those who made sacrifices.

I don't think that its a bad thing at all to show respect. Ever.

Bush never went to Dover because of the policy the DoD had about photographing the caskets that he more or less tacitly approved of. It had nothing to do with wanting to look like a photo-op or not. He has been, and should be, criticized for strategic blunders that probably cost more lives then they should have, I've read a lot about what Bush went through when he met with those families and to say he didn't care is silly and really unfair to the man. Obama's visiting Dover was an entirely appropriate gesture and it's just as s***ty, offensive even, to imply the same about him so the non-controversy is really pissing me off. Whatever way the POTUS deems appropriate to show respect is fine by me. As long as they do it.

Now if we're talking about Cheney not caring... hey, all bets are off, I'm convinced human lives were nothing more than numbers on a powerpoint slide or a spreadsheet to him.

summarize kap: I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BUT I'M GOING TO COME ACROSS AS REALLY ANGRY AND SURE OF MYSELF SO YOU THINK I DO!!!!

I'll say this as nicely as I can. Learn how to read (I - w i l l - e v e n - t y p e - t h i s - s l o w - f o r - y o u) for comprehension, because I was pretty respectful of all opinions on what I said.

NSS, Obama doing it his way? What does that even mean?

What was unclear? Obama did it his way. This was one way he chose to honor these slain soldiers. Bush also did it his own way.

This whole discussion is packed with textbook manufactured outrage. Bush and Obama may not be much alike on the political spectrum, but I can't believe people actually think that neither of them give a s*** about the soldiers they order to their deaths. Everything I've read about both suggests otherwise.
