StrangeSox
Texas GOP platform: criminalize gay marriage and ban sodomy, outlaw strip clubs and pornography The Texas Republican Party gives a whole new meaning to the word conservative. The GOP there has voted on a platform that would ban oral and anal sex. It also would give jail sentences to anyone who issues a marriage license to a same-sex couple (even though such licenses are already invalid in the state). “We oppose the legalization of sodomy,” the platform says. “We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.” Religious fundamentalism is bad. Rex Kickass
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Texas GOP platform: criminalize gay marriage and ban sodomy, outlaw strip clubs and pornography Religious fundamentalism is bad. I just want to know how the Texas Republican party can say with a straight face that they want limited government, when their platform literally says that they'd like to expand it up your ass. Well played indeed. Finally, though I am glad we can get to the important debate on the role of government up your ass. It's time we got to the real issues. Balta1701
Sigh. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) went to the House floor Thursday night, to warn of a diabolical terrorist plot -- with a 20-30 year timeline. The plot involves arranging for a child to be born in the United States -- then training them in an isolated environment abroad, ready to dispatch them back here to commit violence after a quick two or three decades. Balta1701
One of these words doesn't seem to make sense... "My plans include an underground electric fence, with helicopter stations to respond quickly to breaches of the border."

There's perimeter fences you can bury underground, but I wouldn't call them an "electric" fence.
KipWellsFan
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) Really? Gallup had one poll about 6 months ago that showed what you suggest, it got large amounts of press, then their next poll showed things back to just about where they've sat for the last 15 years or so, and it got no press. Almost as if there was some statistical phenomenon going on where if you poll on an issue 100+ times over 20 years, you'll occasionally get polls that show odd trends. http://www.gallup.com/poll/128036/New-Norm...s-Pro-Life.aspx And polls aside, I don't see why Roe v Wade won't be overturned eventually. CrimsonWeltall
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Why do you say that? The idea is that a large portion of people who would otherwise line up fairly well with Democratic platforms vote Republican because they're one-issue (abortion) voters.
