GoSox05
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Frank Wuterich, the Marine responsible for ordering the Haditha massacre which resulted in the death of 24 civilians within 45 minutes, gets a reduction in rank and no jail time. It's shocking to read, but it's not surprising. Maybe him and William Calley can hang out and talk about the good old days of committing war crimes and serving no time. StrangeSox
http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/...lative-demands/ About two dozen tea party activists held a news conference, then met with lawmakers individually to present their list of priorities and “demands” for the 2011 legislative session that opened Tuesday. The material calls for lawmakers to amend state laws governing school curriculums, and for textbook selection criteria to say that “No portrayal of minority experience in the history which actually occurred shall obscure the experience or contributions of the Founding Fathers, or the majority of citizens, including those who reached positions of leadership.” Fayette County attorney Hal Rounds, the group’s lead spokesman during the news conference, said the group wants to address “an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another. Oh I know it happens in a lot of places, sometimes with more subtlety. But I used to live in Memphis, and couldn't opass up the opportunity to poke fun. And I am shocked - shocked, I tell you - that people there are even less able to express these ideas eloquently.

Can someone post the quotes from that bigoted Tennessee sob telling the world that gay people die sooner and are responsible for aids because of money rape? I figure that adds to the fun. Edit: here it is now that I'm home. Sigh.
StrangeSox
New Hampshire Republicans Propose Bills That Prevent Police From Protecting Domestic Abuse Victims You know, I can usually understand the motivations behind bills I find awful. NorthSideSox72
Thought this was interesting, not sure where to post it. Apparently, Joe Biden, when asked, suggested the President not order the raid that killed Bin Laden, until gaining further intel. And he wasn't alone. Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Thought this was interesting, not sure where to post it. Apparently, Joe Biden, when asked, suggested the President not order the raid that killed Bin Laden, until gaining further intel. And he wasn't alone. Panetta's 60 Minutes interview last night was pretty good. He was all about it simply for the fact that they had gone nearly a decade without much intel on the guy. This was their best shot, so he wanted to take it. The craziest thing he said was that Pakistani military helicopters routinely flew over the compound. They basically knew there was a good chance that Pakistan and the US would get into a battle (albeit small and brief). Still, they decided to go for it anyway. He also seemed 100% certain that higher ups in Pakistan knew who was in there.
Soxbadger
Considering that Pakistan is threatening to put the Dr who helped the US on trial for treason, it suggests they werent happy that Bin Laden was captured.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Agreed, but seriously, who straps their dog to the roof of a car??? Read a little more about it. Family vacation, a cage with a floor and a seperate windshield, on the roof of the car. Now, I have never owned a dog, and I don't really know how bad that might be for him/her up there. Just saying, its not like he pulled a Chevy Chase or anything. At worst, it was psychologically traumatic - so, not good, but not something worth making a campaign issue about. Especially since, at the time, it was pretty commonplace. And I don't think it is much worse than putting a dog in the back of a pickup, which you see all the time (and which is considerably more dangerous to the dog). StrangeSox
It's pretty terrible and really inhumane. There's no real way to defend his actions there. It's also not an issue in a Presidential election.
Balta1701
I promise to care exactly as much about that as I do about Obama's bowling form. Balta1701
Seemingly due to the Republican campaign against Planned Parenthood, the Susan G. Komen for the cure foundation has decided to stop funding breast cancer screenings through that organization. This will, of course, likely further curtail those variety of screenings, particularly in groups that are poor/not otherwise served by our health care for the wealthy system.
