Not really an apology, still completely missing the issue at hand to boot, still doesn't understand how contraception works.

edit:

Sleep Train, Select Comfort/Sleep Number, Quicken Loans, Cleveland Cavaliers, Citrix and LegalZoom have all pulled their support from Rush's show. [Late today, the CEO of Carbonite announced that despite Rush's "apology," Carbonite is pulling its support too.]

I'm sure he does, and if he or anyone else doesn't, a simple Google/Bing/Yahoo search will shed light on the situation in about 2 seconds.

This story has simply spun out of control at this point. Rush was stupid to the Nth for taking a rather simple issue and turning into a personal attack.

It's just another story in an endless string of stories about Rush Limbaugh and the stupid/crazy s*** he does/says. I wish he'd go away, but he won't so long as people keep bringing him into the spotlight. Sure, he'll lose a few advertisers for this, and I'm sure he will gain others...if anything, this will galvanize his bat s*** rabid fan base...a fan base that happens to buy s***...thus a fan base some advertisers will still advertise too.

Well, he either doesn't understand how oral birth control works (it's fixed-cost) or he's intentionally lying to a dumb, gullible fanbase.

It'd be great for him to go away, but he still wields a large amount of power within the GOP. Maybe this incident will be the tipping point where he's finally marginalized such that GOP politicians don't need to run and issue an apology if they dare to criticize him.

Are you kidding? The fact that he's under assault by those evil liberals will just strengthen his connection with his base listeners, and turning out those listeners is key for winning elections. He won't be "marginalized" until he retires.

The fact that Glenn Beck was under assault and losing sponsors was proof to his core audience that [blah blah blah], but he still lost his TV show and is nowhere near as relevant as he was a couple of years ago.

That doesn't mean that he lost his job because his show wasn't profitable though. His show was still plenty profitable thanks to making Goldline a household name...what really happened is that Fox sorta started pushing him out because everyone else started laughing at the network and his conspiracy-mongering was really ripping at whatever "Credibility" fox was trying to hold on to. He wasn't let go because his show wasn't profitable, he was let go because he was hurting everything else at Fox.

He lost over a four hundred sponsors and Goldline was pretty much the only one left. His ratings were plummeting.

Regardless, the point is that Rush isn't some constant, everlasting force that can't have his brand and influence damaged by his own horribleness. Hell, look at the GOP itself: this time last year, it looked increasingly likely that they would take the Senate and the Presidency while holding on to the House.

Really though, it's been what, 20 years, and nothing he has said has done anything to hurt his brand? He's going to get his $20 million+ a year, he's going to be on 2000 stations a day, and that's just how it is.

Except now advertisers are pulling ads and GOP leaders are at least kinda-sorta criticizing the remarks.

Does this mean anything long-term? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't see what basis you or Y2HH have for believing it's impossible.

You say that like it's the first time he's lost advertisers, stations, or whatever over various remarks. He couldn't even get pulled off of Armed Forces radio for defending Abu Ghraib for crying out loud.

well, I think Rush was right. i'm sure his apology was fake and only said because some loon advertiser made a big deal out of it.

if you are whining before congress that you need at least $30,000 a year for 'condom' spending cash, you should expect a little criticism.

Here in Chicago, we have a progressive talk radio station (820 AM). I was listening to it yesterday and it was pretty terrible. Rather than criticising Rush, maybe you guys should listen to his show and get some tips on how to have a top notch, successfull radio show.

just sayin

Their shows will never be as successful. Progressives are less prone to wanting to listen to anger, hatred, and yelling all day.

100% agreed that that station is unbearably bad. I stumbled on it a few weeks ago and someone kept saying "Mint RawMoney" instead of Mitt Romney. That was enough for me never to bother with it again.

Republicans can't do satire very well. Democrats can't do talk radio. Just stick with what you're good at.

Wait, I know I've got a couple people here who've joined in calling him rMoney?

Well, then why do they watch MSNBC? Anyways, it could be successful, but you you need someone that has something interesting/smart to say.
