Which is why everyone asks for the birth certificate of the guy who was born in the Panama Canal zone. Or had a father born in Mexico. Those guys never got past those questions. Has nothing to do with assuming that a black guy must be illegitimate.

 

The GOP demanded to see Romney's birth certificate. He will show it to anyone.

 

anyways, now to the 'birther' issue.

 

It all started with Obama's book that claimed he was born in Kenya. Someone saw it, told people, and now they are all convinced he was born in Kenya.

According to a promotional booklet produced by the agency, Acton & Dystel, to showcase its roster of writers, Obama was "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."

 

Then Obama played a very shrewd game; refusing to produce a birth certificate and let the conspiracy theories roll. all to bring it out at the height of the birther mania to make his detractors look like idiots. Now Romney tells jokes about the whole situation. So would I.

You can claim that all you want (and hell, it may be true) -- but in this instance, you certainly sound like you're toeing a company line.

Frankly, I think both him and senor genius have a point. I think it was an offhand joke by Romney that wasn't meant to offend or sound like the way Balta, Lostfan, or StrangeSox are reading it. That said, after the fact, it doesn't take any great leap of logic to get to their conclusion, either.

The concept is totally unfamiliar to Romney (and frankly most white people) and he probably doesn't even get why it's not funny, so I really doubt he was actually making a racist comment. I'm not sure what your post is aiming at. But I know Romney is for more immigration, but it is in the form of more guest workers. And yes, it could be argued that more guest workers are government interference with the supply and demand aspects of the labor market. On the other end of the spectrum is the view that anything but open boarders is government intrusion into the labor market.

Dont call yourself pro-capitalist or for economic freedom, unless you are for complete legal immigration.

 

Romney is just as much a socialist as Obama, he just wants to interfere in other ways.

 

Thats the point, when it comes to economics, you are choosing between socialist a or socialist b, which is why in my opinion this election isnt about economics at all, its about how much control should the govt have over American's daily life. And since Romney is more for govt intrusion in social life (restriction on abortion, restrictions on marriage) I cant vote for him.

I think if you're trying to deflect people from talking about your offshore accounts, holding fundraisers on boats in Florida which are flagged in those same countries that your tax havens are in is probably a bad optic.
