Balta1701
There's a whole page in the platform devoted to a discussion of "Faith" and the Republicans whipped up their usual media firestorm because it didn't use the word they chose, and then the convention had to pause to re-edit the platform to shut down a stupid Republican media firestorm. I'd have booed too.

I'd have booed too. This So sick of rightwing Christians trying to impose their version of God on everyone. Their version of God loves waging wars, doesn't care about the poor and the sick (every man for themselves!), and hates gay people.
bmags
I think democrats need to realize there was a football game on last night. I highly doubt the clinton speech changes the election.
cabiness42
I highly doubt the clinton speech changes the election. Especially not when Obama was already going to win by 50+ electoral votes. All the Obama campaign has to do is not f*** things up.
Jake
I really enjoyed a few months ago (pre-VP pick) when Colbet slammed Paul Ryan for correlating his Catholicism with his fiscal policy...going as far as bringing what seemed to be a socialist nun to slam him further for speaking on behalf of the church. I highly doubt the clinton speech changes the election. I agree, but that's where having a former president with an almost 70% approval ratings will help us. Obama gonna unleash Bubba on the battleground states from here to election day, I'm sure he can deliver enough white working class votes to the Obama column to win a majority of those states... We got this.

kapkomet
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) Let's do this voice vote one more time. I actually felt embarrassed for Vilar Raigossa. If you are going to ram the vote through, why do it three times? And by the way what man takes the surname of his wife? Don't knock it. Seriously. There's some people that have some damn good reasons for doing it.

I believe in a Christian way of life and believe that without God there is nothing. You can believe whatever you want obviously as can I. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 12:13 AM) God and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and Bigfoot are all pretty pissed at the non-believers. Many of us in America believe God has nothing to do with the Tooth Fairy and Bigfoot but for some reason we can be mocked openly without scorn of others. It's amazing how people mock believers all the time and these same people would dare not mock other groups for their beliefs. I believe God is in control. It's amazing how people mock believers all the time and these same people would dare not mock other groups for their beliefs. I believe God is in control. You are inconsistent in your statements. You say you don't care what others believe, but the very next thing you post laments that too few people believe in God (i.e., you care what others think). It's not true, btw. A distressing recent Gallup poll noted that 45% of Americans have a basically creationist belief system, while another 35% believe in a God-directed evolutionary scheme (talk about a contradiction), and only 15% of Americans accept a secular view of organic evolution. Basically, the Goddies far outnumber the nonbelievers in America, no matter how loudly the poor persecuted believers insist otherwise.
