BigSqwert
John Kerry with a zinger today: "Barack got asked the famous boxers or briefs question," Kerry went on. "I was tempted to say commando." The senator said Obama successfully parried that question but that John McCain, the GOP nominee, had some problems. "Then they asked McCain and McCain said, ‘Depends,'" Kerry said to lots of laughter from the crowd.
GoSox05
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) So who's going to the Grant Park rally on election night to see Obama? I know my wife and I, along with a group of friends, will be in attendance. If he wins this thing I will be there. Do you need tickets or anything for this? I could see a couple hundred thousand showing up.

BigSqwert
Now all we need is the Reverend Wright stuff to resurface and the GOP/McCain camp can be 100% in the gutter to end his campaign.
bmags
In reality I feel like Wright was always more legitimate than Ayers. But then to think why they would move on Ayers, and not on wright, and the connections that are scarier than are with Wright, and it makes sense. One would negate a theme of the other. Soxbadger
So were Guilliani and Huckabee against George W. Bush? Because Im pretty sure there is some evidence he may have taken part in a few recreational illegal activities. If anything some one admitting to drug use is more likely to get me to vote for them. When will big govt stop legislating morality?

Soxbadger
So much for Palin and her "neighbor" being friendly... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...0,6044747.story The irony of this is that McCain's campaign is trying to allege that Obama has been getting illegal foreign contributions. Im sure it was a mistake, but still funny.

Yeah, its up on cnn.com now. I find that very odd. Looks to me like PA is a solid double digit lead for Obama right now, whereas CO and NM are closer. I'm trying to figure out why they are giving up on them. IA is a lost cause, I get that. Maybe McCain sees the larger PA electoral total as his only way to win. Thing is, if he leaves CO and NM and IA, and can't win PA either, its over (even if McCain can get FL, OH and VA). So really, its like McCain's campaign is saying that PA is it. That's the last stand. Wow.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Guiliani's florida. And it makes no sense to do a "last stand" anyway, because you end up looking bad EVERYWHERE. People see that, and think, well, he's done. Why should I vote for him? even if you are putting most of your resources into PA, you don't SAY that to the press. That's just stupid. It means that, if you did have even a small chance of winning CO, NM or IA, that your announcement just made sure that's gone too. People in those states will say, screw him! bmags
Maybe it's a false leak. Maybe they want the people of PA to know that all eyes are on them for McCain and he understands their problems and he can help. I don't know. I could see Iowa, but Colorado, that's so strange. They just had a rally there today.

HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Obama cancels thursday and friday campaign appearances to be by his grandmothers side. It is said she's taken a turn for the worse. Thoughts go out to the family. Senator Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has always been one of the most important people in his life. Along with his mother and his grandfather, she raised him in Hawaii from the time he was born until the moment he left for college. As he said at the Democratic Convention, she poured everything she had into him. Recently, his Grandmother has become ill, and in the last few weeks, her health has deteriorated to the point where her situation is very serious. It is for that reason that Senator Obama has decided to change his schedule on Thursday and Friday so that he can see her and spend some time with her. He will be returning the the campaign trail on Saturday. prayers go out to you Barack. Edited October 21, 2008 by Athomeboy_2000

Right now Obama has about 252 "safe" electoral votes if you take this report seriously about CO, NM and IA and give up PA. Assuming ND, MT and GA are all still very solid McCain states (and recent polls do not back this up at all) you would have McCain at 158; if he actually wins PA he has 179. For arguments sake I'll say McCain wins PA, even though he probably has the same chance there as he does in CA or IL. OK so now you have Obama: 252 and McCain: 179 with 107 tossups spread amongst 8 states. Let's say Obama wins VA, which now appears likely, he will stand at 265 meaning if he wins any of the remaining 7 toss up states the election is his. Or if Obama wins OH or FL (which are definitely closer than VA btw) he wins the election outright then and there. This is a last-ditch move and the electoral map would have to do something absolutely crazy in order for it to work. The only way I can see McCain even getting in the ballpark of wining PA is going flat out nuclear on Obama. They'd have to paint him as the super scary black dude who is a secret Muslim that wants to destory America. Not just imply it liek they have been doing, they have to flat out say it. And even then, it's far more likely to REALLY backfire on McCain. CNN seems to think McCain will still run adds in CO. Leaving IA, NM, and CO would really strike me more as a silent surrender move. It seems like he knows it's over and he'll go down fighting on the off chance something shocking comes out about Obama.
