DukeNukeEm
Either you're naturally insufferable or you need to lay off the cocaine. I'm pretty proud of my ability to put words in other people's mouths but even I'm impressed with how bold you were in just making s*** up. I rail constantly against the minimum wage, I even work a job that is exempted from those laws! Then you start talking about immigrants then my happiness and I just lose you. I'm really not going to categorically repudiate each of your claims because I run a severe risk of saying something like "I would strive in that society, I would be rich" which is a pretty humiliatingly dumb thing to say. I'm just going to say that I don't get anything from the government that I don't pay for 3 times over.

DukeNukeEm
BUY THE F***ING ROAD YOU USE OR STOP TALKING TO ME. THE BILL IS $20 MILLION. The vast majority of transportation funds come from fuel taxes right? How big is your gas tank? 20 gal? You might fill it once every 3-4 days-ish? Sounds about normal. I have a 275 gal tank. I fill it every other day (this depends on so much I won't list it all). Tolls? If costs a car $5 to cross the Skyway now, I pay $25. The GW is over $100 now I think. I had a delivery in Orlando FL, cost me $50 to get through the city in tolls. It costs $80 a week for inspection, registration and permits (I'm not HazMat or oversized, I do haul beer). Then I still pay federal and state taxes on top of that. So tell me again I don't pay enough taxes for the roads, please.

DukeNukeEm
You're paying $600 million a year in taxes? I congratulate you sir. The % of the transportation budget I contribute exceeds the % of wear I put on the roads. Hence the initial claim "I don't get anything from the state I don't pay for 3 times over." DukeNukeEm
Next time its prudent I'm going to say some really ignorant s*** about geology I gleaned from an article I barely remember reading. Then I'm going to use that ignorant s*** to make a personal judgment about you. When you become frustrated with the level of ignorance and just give up I will come back with that same ignorance whenever I feel like it because I will be mistaking conceding out of exhaustion with actually winning the argument. Hence the initial claim "I don't get anything from the state I don't pay for 3 times over." Those are two quite different statements. You get a lot from the state you haven't paid for. You get hundreds of miles of roads that have been constructed using other people's tax dollars. Those roads cost billions of dollars and you have in no sense paid for all of them. You pay for a portion of the damage you do to the roads, but not nearly the full thing. The federal gas tax only brings in about $25 billion in revenue, while the annual highway bill spending is over $50 billion (and should be twice that just to do the deferred maintenance on most of the roads). Oh and you also get to dump garbage through your tailpipe into the air that all of us have to breathe and I get to cough as punishment.

Even then, fuel taxes only account for $25 billion? f***ing ONLY? How blood drunk off government money are you? Motherf***er that's half the budget right there. I also burn cleaner than a ca due to something called regens that I barely understand unless they break me down (they do that a lot). Again, you don't know what you are talking about. Tailpipe? What? Have you seen a truck or do you just stare at rocks in your basement wondering what the outside world is like? But hey, to settle this once and for all because I'm utterly sick of you thinking you "got me" because of my job. 1) They most I ever hear about your employment is you b****ing that you didn't get enough public funds to sit on your ass. Or youre just whining about income and what other people have but you can't earn. You want to make occupation fair play? Let's do it, let's see how much more you do than your average unemployed twit living off the dole. "But Duke, we need geologists and stuff" yea we do, we need a lot of them which begs the question why the f*** are you so whiny all the damn time? My guess, you don't want to go work for Halliburton or whoever because they'll make you work while waiting for that big grant to come through or blowing other similarly useless academics is generally no-work for little-pay. That's why you're such a gimme gimme little brat about other peoples money. That's why you want free s*** all the damn time. Because you cant/won't/are too lazy to work. I don't think there's all that much to my job, but I do know you couldn't do it for a day. So until the time comes where you can say you actually create something that isn't a study, theory or idea you can go ahead and shut up about what I do. Don't cry foul now, you brought my job into it now I'm doing the same. 2) The only reason I do what I do is because it is demanded by the general population. Don't complain about a trucks exhaust fumes then go to the supermarket and buy a fish from Washington. I may have been the one who actually drove it but I am not the one who demands things be shipped thousands of miles because "they want them". All this that you're saying, its me who wrecks the roads and needs the government and pollutes the air--its not me, asshole. If I wasn't driving this crap around someone else would be because you are all so hopelessly addicted to stuff you need it fed to you daily by 53 ft long, 13.5 foot tall trucks carrying 20 tons of crap for you to shove down your gullet. Do not even try to pin the reckless, wasteful attitudes towards consumption on me when I live in a closet about 4 feet away from my office and generally travel to places where things are made to buy them as opposed to sitting on my ass while an entire industry of millions works 24/7 to provide needless tons of useless s*** to satisfy my addiction. Rail releases "studies" like this all the time. CSA, HoS, theyve been aggressively targeting the trucking industry for about 20 years now. Its all bulls***. DukeNukeEm
How can I be a daring, brave individualist in this painfully weak, boring, terrified country? Its not even possible. Of course I'm none of those things and never advertise myself as them because your toxic ideology has poisoned everything. I just want to be left alone. Not told what to do or who to give my money to or "what's worth it"; I want to make those judgments myself. That's all I really ever ask for with very limited exceptions. DukeNukeEm
Then stop using the roads. Whether or not I do this job that is not a choice I reasonably have. Besides I feed your beast a decent percentage of my income so I might as well get some tangible benefit out of it before it all starts going to welfare.
