ChiSox_Sonix
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) So we had to torture people to justify a war where we tortured people so we could get somebody else to stop torturing people. No we didnt.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) He was a US citizen. He was held in federal custody and was not part of an organized terrorist group whose main goal in life was to wipe out the United States. Not the same thing. You know for a fact that McVeigh planned to retire if he was never caught? Maybe he had bigger plans for a 2nd incident. kapkomet
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) Let's not forget, one of the reasons Bush gave for going to war was that Saddam tortured people. So we had to torture people to justify a war where we tortured people so we could get somebody else to stop torturing people. Yea, we use chemical weapons on our own people, we behead people, we cut off limbs, we whip and beat the crap out of people, we cut off their nuts and let them bleed a slow death - yea, we do all those things. It's not the same thing. Not even close. I personally don't like the idea of waterboarding people - but I think it's not torture like you have the hard on to make it. You all want something so bad to hang GWB administration people on without even looking at the big picture. "NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW"... that's right, and the people who put the memos together DID NOT BREAK A LAW. They stated a legal opinion. So, now that's prosecuted in this country? f*** all you people who think that's ok (should it go that far). And furthermore, if it's so nice over there and they treat their people so much better, get out of my country. Cknolls
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) Here's what kinda pisses me off about the whole thing. Cheney keeps saying "but look what info it got us". So, basically, he is saying the ends justify the means, which is NOT what we stand for as a country. We are against torture... no matter what the results. So, for Chaney to say what he is saying, says he doesnt give a rats ass about the constitution, the Geneva conventions, or the rights of humans. As long as we get what we want, the rules be damned. Yeah as long as he saves lives who cares? The 10000 people that work in the library tower in L.A....f*** them. You want to bomb us come on we abide by the Geneva Conventions.
kapkomet
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) So what's the purpose of waterboarding if it's not torture? You know what the purpose is. It's to gain information. It's not to get their jollies. Apparently, though, that's what most on the left want to make it.
Cknolls
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) How would you all feel if one day America became a Muslim majority nation and Christians were being detained and tortured because it was feared they might be terrorists? Really? Release all the memos, in full detail, then we can determine what we got and how. We don't know the whole story - we have just enough to make it a political witch hunt. I thought only Republicans went after people for political purposes?

DukeNukeEm
Why don't we just hijack a few planes and kill thousands of innocent people, just because? I'm glad you take their side and mentality. Because we had never killed any innocent middle easterners prior to 9/11.
Cknolls
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) Then these "enemy combatants" should be tried in an international court, not US.
