southsider2k5
http://www.nationaljournal.com/james-carvi...people-20110915 James Carville: Obama Should Panic and Fire People -- Lots of People By Lara Seligman Updated: September 15, 2011 | 10:21 a.m. September 15, 2011 | 8:31 a.m. Democratic strategist James Carville thinks that President Obama should panic, fire, and fight--in that order. In a column that appeared on CNN’s opinion pages on Thursday, Carville had some harsh words for the White House about how to take on the faltering economy and faith in the Democratic Party. “This is what I would say to President Barack Obama: The time has come to demand a plan of action that requires a complete change from the direction you are headed,” Carville wrote. He advised Obama to follow the precedent of former presidents--specifically, Ronald Reagan, who fired most of his campaign staff in 1980, and Bill Clinton, who fired many staff members in 1994--and fire lots of people. “For God's sake, why are we still looking at the same political and economic advisers that got us into this mess?” Carville wrote. “It's not working.” He also urged Obama to take a stronger stance against “Republican austerity garbage,” and to make a case for his own program to fix the economy. Carville serves as a CNN political contributor and appears frequently on CNN’s The Situation Room. He remains active in Democratic politics and is a party fundraiser. I would love to have one of these f***tards threaten me. KELSO, Wash. – A Kelso man arrested for allegedly assaulting a guard and vandalizing a rail car at the Port of Longview was the same person who confronted a TV news crew last Thursday, police said. Ronald Stavas, 45, was arrested Monday night and booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on four felony charges: burglary in the first degree, assault in the second degree, intimidating a witness, and sabotage. At his initial appearance in Cowlitz County Superior Court Tuesday morning, bail was set at $50,000 for the crimes, which allegedly occurred on Sept. 8. Raw video: Longshoreman confronts KGW news crew A witness told police he recognized Stavas after seeing video on KGW-TV of an angry man who confronted a news crew at the Longshoremen union hall. Tension has been growing amid the union and the port, over the right to work at a new grain terminal in Washington state. Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview on September 8, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that was the center of a labor dispute, according to Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha. A federal judge later ordered union protesters to stop using illegal tactics. Also arrested on Monday was Shelly Porter, 39, of Longview. She was charged with criminal trespass for allegedly blocking a train. KGW is the Portland sister station of KING 5.

EvilMonkey
I wonder how they will blame the delay on the Tea Party? What happened to 'pass this bill now'? Durbin: Senate likely won’t act on Obama’s jobs bill until Oct. By John T. Bennett - 09/18/11 09:29 AM ET The Senate likely will not take up President Obama’s plan to create jobs until next month following a planned recess period, the No. 2 Democrat in the chamber said Sunday. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said the Senate would focus on a number of “related issues” to the $400 billion job-creation legislation this week. But he quickly noted on CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has placed the massive jobs bill “on the calendar.” http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/sche...-bill-until-oct

southsider2k5
I hadn't heard this one yet... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-20...-like-meat.html Obama's White House is a 'hostile environment for females that treats women like meat' Allegations in Confidence Men: Wall Steet, Washington and the Education of a President, by Ron Suskind By David Gardner Top female advisers felt left out by a boy's club in the White House where rampant infighting sabotaged the administration's economic decisions, according to a controversial new book. Sidelined and ignored in the West Wing, some women aides reportedly complained to President Obama about their treatment in 2009. In an excerpt obtained by the Washington Post, a female senior aide is quoted as calling the White House a hostile environment for women. A new book alleges the White House can be a hostile environment for women to work in. President Obama, who goes home to a wife, two daughters and a mother-in-law at night, is not personally cited for any mistreatment Confidence Men: Wall Steet, Washington and the Education of a President, by journalist Ron Suskind, is due out in the shops next Tuesday. Former Communications Director Anita Dunn calls the work environment 'hostile' in the book, which she now denies having said According to the Post, former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn says in the book: 'This place would be in court for a hostile workplace because it actually fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women.' Dunn denied to the Post that she made the remark, adding: 'The president is someone who when he goes home at night he goes home to a house full of very strong women. He values having strong women around him.' But Suskind's book insists many women felt outmaneuvered by male colleagues such as former Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel and, Larry Summers, former chairman of the National Economic Council. 'I felt like a piece of meat,' Christina Romer, former head of the Council of Economic Advisers, said of one meeting with Summers. The Post said Dunn raised the issue during the 2008 campaign when a TV ad was prepared without featuring a single woman. In the book Larry Summers and Rahm Emanuel, now Mayor of Chicago, are cited as making women unhappy and feel outmaneuvered 'I was dumbfounded. It wasn't like they were being deliberately sexist. It's just there was no-one offering a female perspective.' The book also details internal squabbles between Obama's economic team, including Timothy Geithner 'The president has a real woman problem. The idea of the boy's club being just Larry and Rahm isn't really fair. He (Obama) was just as responsible himself,' an unnamed high-ranking woman official told the author. The book also reportedly details internal squabbling between Obama's economic team, among them Summers and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Based on interviews with more than 200 people, the book is being published at a sensitive time for Obama, who is facing the lowest public approval figures of his tenure. However, in an interview today with the Post, Dunn takes issue with Suskind's depiction of the White House. 'It's a place where there is vigorous discussion back and forth. At various times people have issues with their colleagues, but we were united. I've been very clear that this is a president who values a diverse set of voices on every issue,' she said.
