The 'Tea Party' loved Herman Cain, for what it's worth.

If the GOP were thinking, they would have had Herman Cain as their rep. However the Republican party would never allow such an event as a colored man to represent them.

He is American, regardless of where he was born. So try again.

There are two different standards here. American and eligible to be President of the US.

That's what I was hinting at too. I remember when republicans were adamant he wasn't born in America. You know, the whole birther issue. So Cruz wouldn't be eligible is my guess.

That's how I've been reading all of the "Cruz is a Canadian!" stuff--just poking fun at birthers who flipped their s*** over the Kenyan Muslim Socialist and the ridiculous lengths they've gone to who have run to embrace Cruz.

I don't think anyone here was a birther, though.

Cook County use tax ruled illegal by courts.

Court rules Cook County use tax illegal

Cook County's controversial use tax on goods bought outside the county was declared illegal yesterday.

The ruling from the bench by Circuit Court Judge Lopez Cepero means taxpayers won't have to pay the tax or file returns while the county appeals the decision, according to lawyers involved with the case.

The tax was meant to plug a hole in the county's budget as well as encourage taxpayers to buy from companies in Cook County. But it created significant tax bills for big buyers of steel, fuel and other commodities and a paperwork burden for smaller taxpayers.

A written order is expected Oct. 11, after which the county will have 30 days to appeal.

"We are awaiting the judge's written, enforceable order," a county spokesman said in an email. "We intend to petition the circuit court for a stay of the injunction, and we are prepared to move immediately to the appellate court as soon as the judge issues his written order."

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce took the relatively unusual step of joining two law firms that sued the county on their own behalf. Reed Smith LLP and Horwood Marcus & Berk argued that the tax violated both the Illinois and federal constitutions and exceeded the county's authority under state law.

Last week, the Appellate Court of Illinois granted the county's request to stay the circuit court's preliminary injunction against the tax, issued in July, but with several restrictions that said the county couldn't enforce the tax's penalty provisions against companies that don't file returns.

The county had expected the tax to add about $11.7 million to revenues next year.

Heh you would be right but I don't think Hilary kept pushing the issue. That was clearly political. On one hand Biden said Obama was too inexperienced to be president of the US too. I guess he changed his mind.

Should we even continue the restriction on natural born American? If voters are willing to elect someone born outside the US shouldn't they be allowed to do that? We allow it in all other elected offices.

Yes.

Naturalized Americans would be just fine. While I think the system is right to not trust the general public on some things, I think the public can figure out if a guy is American enough. President Schwarzenegger 2016

The IRS paid as much as $13.6 billion in bogus claims for the Earned Income Tax Credit last year, according to a report the agency’s internal auditor released Tuesday morning.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration said it warned the IRS in 2011 that it was making the erroneous payments, but two years later the agency hasn’t fixed the problem.

Over the last decade, the IRS could have paid out as much as $132.6 billion in improper payments.

they will make that back when they get control of healthcare by denying benefits to old people and end of life care.

Which party? The one that likes to give people things (not denying anything), or the one that likes to leave people's income in their pockets instead of taxing them? It's kind of the same argument I have about social security. Which party will let the system collapse? And my answer is always, neither one.

BTW, how will birthers react to Ted Cruz for President?

Why are you assuming birthers are Republicans? I seem to remember that coming very loudly from the Hillary camp back in the day. And it's not the birthers you have to worry about, its all the lame-ass Dems that wanna have a 'gotcha' moment who will be complaining the loudest, but not realizing that most people just don't care.
