EvilMonkey
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) McCarthy withdraws candidacy for speaker Wow. Just Boehner 2.0, so nothing would have changed. Plus he would be terrible on all the Sunday shows. He can't speak, especially without notes. StrangeSox
If the House doesn't have a Speaker at the end of the month for the first time since 1855, then there's a serious danger of hitting the debt ceiling on November 5th and no bill being able to move through Congress to address it. Boehner has said that his resignation will not become effective until a replacement is in place. Someone in the mainstream of the party needs to grow a spine and tell the 30 thugs that they don't run everything.

cabiness42
Isn't the Freedom Caucus a bunch of hardline ideologues who take pride in their 'no compromises' stance? Yes, pretty much. They're also from some of the most conservative districts in the nation, so they will never have negative repercussions for their actions. There is no chance for a Democrat to unseat them in November, or even for a more moderate Republican to defeat them in the primary.

EvilMonkey
I don't care what your stance is towards Republicans in general or any candidate in specific, this is uncalled for from a supposed mainstream magazine. And it would be equally uncalled for is the name was changed to Hillary or Obama. http://www.gq.com/story/f***-ben-carson

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) What is racist about that article? When did gq become a publication of the democratic party? Those were my thoughts. I mean, I don't find it professional, but it is GQ. We aren't talking about a major news outlet here. Carson is a doof. His race is not factor in said doofiness, and I don't see any hint of that in the article either. It is a garbage article I wish I hadn't read, but frankly I've seen similarly ugly articles written about multiple candidates across party lines in various rags. They may just have not used the F word in there. It is disrespectful, but I guess I don't care.
